4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap at the Figueroa Mountain brew-pub in Santa Barbara. Nearly black, with red highlights (Christmas lights behind it). It doesnít smell strong, but it smells good. Itís a good-tasting beer - on the sweet side, but in a good way, i.e. not sickly sweet or like banana etc. Itís only slightly roasty and chocolate-y, but thatís a strength here, in that it just complements the good taste. Enjoyable beer, satisfying porter.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours a nearly opaque dark brown with red glints in the sunlight. The head was short, but only due to the care taken by the bar tender in the way it was poured. The head is root beer colored. The aroma consists of roasted coffee beans and milk chocolate. The mouthfeel is magnificent. So smooth and creamy with no menacing coffee acidity and very little carbonation burn. The flavor of coffee, chocolate, and dark ripe fruit are accentuated perfectly by the lactose. This is a superior porter in my opinion. Another home run by Figueroa Mountain.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Very dark brown color with a thin khaki head. Nice roasted malt, cocoa, licorice and dark fruit aromas. Hints of chocolate, coffee, and a light nuttiness. The flavor is somewhat sweet with licorice, chocolate, and dark fruits. A nice coffee note to it, plenty of roasted malt, burnt sugar, and molasses.
