The brewery, unable to make a profit in a competitive city, closed on November 15, 1935. (7.8 % ABV)

Tap: Very deep brown with mahogany highlights, small frothy head. The aroma has notes of chocolate, roast, caramel, some smoke and coffeeish vapours. Earthy, leathery, figgy and prune esters along with a touch of moderate alpha hop and resin. The taste starts twangy and fruity with a bit of a lactic note before a roasty and chocolate midesection. Some char and smoke with a mild hop bitterness toward finish. The mouth feel is smooth and medium-bodied, soft carbonation. Solid brew , could have used a bit more attenuation. More an imperial porter than stout, still tasty enough.
