This bottled brew from the cooler of guest beers at Mad Anthony BC poured a small sized head of fine to large sized mostly lasting bubbles that left behind a very pretty brown red colored softly carbonated body. The aroma was a very mild real malty one. The palate was tingly at first an finished strongly. The flavor was tingly with a nice red malt hop flavor.

Definitely a sweeter, thicker, maltier imperial red ale. Could use a bit more hops. Nice color.

tap at Brewhaven festival - Pours dark amber and smells of toasted caramel malt. The rich flavor includes those same toasted caramel malts and a good hoppy bitter balance. It’s medium to full bodied with a long, rather bitter finish. Well done.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Brigadier (2240) - Bloomington, Indiana, USA - JUL 26, 2012
22 ounce bottle
Having gotten around to trying one of Figure 8’s releases I think I might wait a while to revisit them until there are fewer other options. This beer is all over the place and doesn’t feel like much of anything except an alcohol delivery mechanism.
Aroma / Appearance - A hazy red body looks like someone chucked a handful of butterscotch chews into a blender. Lazy legs slip down the sides. Red licorice, malt balls, and a touch of strawberries give this a summery feel.
Flavor / Palate - Malt carries the flavors from start to finish. Another strong base is that of bitter hops that are like licking a bag of pine cones. The alcohol isn’t evident. Even so it was hard to pick up much of anything exciting. After about a glass and a half I had no problems dumping the rest down the drain.

Bottle pours reddish brown with light tan head. Aromas are sweet malt and minerals. Taste is caramel, malt syrup, and bitter on the back end. Pretty robust with a dry finish. Overall, pretty decent brew.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 bluejacket74 (996) - Reynoldsburg, Ohio, USA - OCT 21, 2011
22 ounce bottle, $7.99 a bomber. Served in a pint glass, the beer pours a murky reddish/brown color with an inch frothy tan head. Head retention is excellent, and there’s a lot of lacing left on the glass. Aroma is earthy and citrusy (pineapple) hops, toffee, and some caramel malt. The brew tastes like earthy and citrusy hops, toasted and caramel malt, and some apples. There’s also a nice bitter hoppy finish. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it’s a bit slick and is well carbonated. It’s a solid overall brew, I’d buy it again in the future.
