COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ro Shampo (Imperial Red Ale) - brewed with four varieties of hops and a blend of 6 malts, this is well balanced with a nose that evokes thoughts of toffee, fine whisky, and cotton candy while finishing with the satisfaction of a taffy apple on a warm autumnal day

Tap at the brewpub. Orange-amber pour with a spotty white head. Caramel and toffee. Kinda boozy. Just okay for me.

Bottle: Cloudy, tea-brown with a bit of red tint....thin white cap. Bitter caramel, boozy aroma. Taste is dark fruit, caramel malt, fairly astringent alcohol bittering. Rather harsh.

Draft to taster at HopCat in Indy. Looks solid; a semi-transparent caramel orange with bubbly eggshell lacing. Smells bittersweetly malty. Seem caramel. Tastes like it smells, but less balanced. Average (at best) on the palate. Not my thing.

hotstuff (4269) - Indiana, USA - APR 17, 2014
Rated on 9-07-2011 (Bottle) This beer has a small fizzy ivory head that mostly diminishes, hazy copper body, very fizzy, fast rising carbonation, and one ring of lacing. The aroma is caramel malt, toffee, citrus hops, fruity, and sweet. The flavor is caramel malt, citrus hops, bitter, sweet, and has a semi-dry finish. The mouthfeel is tingly carbonation and this beer is medium bodied. This beer is very quaffable. The malts are upfront in the aroma and the flavor with the hops taking a backseat.

Beautiful caramel malts lend notes of toffee and whiskey. This is one of the finest Imperial Red Ales out there.

22oz bottle 4/15/14 (Crown Liquors #15-Fishers)-40° in Snifter-Pours a murky dark amberish brown with a small off white head. Aroma of toffee, whisky, caramel, and cotton candy. Dead on from brewer. Taste of the same with alcohol and bitterness coming thru. This full bodied brew is not bad but was expecting more flavor based on the the aroma.

On tap at GTMW 2013. Hazed cara-amber and a thin tan cap. Aroma is sweet and grainy with toffee, bourbon, oak and toasted malt. Taste is oaky with alcohol noticeable and pale malts, spices and light woodsy hops. Mild bourbon with a dry finish.

Pour a deep ruby red very clear with a minimal light tan head that dissipates immediately. Smell is almost all sweet caramel. Maybe a bit of citrusy or pineapple, but not much there. Starts out with a little caramel citrus sweetness rounding into a resiny finish leaving lingering bitterness on the tongue. Mouthfeel is a touch on the light side. Carbonation levels are good. Flavor is really good, but the thin mouthfeel counteracts that a bit. Very drinkable imperial red. Let it warm up a bit. Much better. Glad to see another solid beer brewed in Indiana.
