COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ro Shampo (Imperial Red Ale) - brewed with four varieties of hops and a blend of 6 malts, this is well balanced with a nose that evokes thoughts of toffee, fine whisky, and cotton candy while finishing with the satisfaction of a taffy apple on a warm autumnal day

22 ounce bottle, $7.99 a bomber. Served in a pint glass, the beer pours a murky reddish/brown color with an inch frothy tan head. Head retention is excellent, and there’s a lot of lacing left on the glass. Aroma is earthy and citrusy (pineapple) hops, toffee, and some caramel malt. The brew tastes like earthy and citrusy hops, toasted and caramel malt, and some apples. There’s also a nice bitter hoppy finish. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it’s a bit slick and is well carbonated. It’s a solid overall brew, I’d buy it again in the future.

Bottle (courtesy of T & D - thanks). Toffee malt and pine aroma. Hazy orange-brown color with large tan head. Sweet toffee malt and moderately bitter pine/grapefruit hops flavor. Tasty.

Pours a cloudy, deep brownish red with white head. Aromas of caramels, molasses, and notes of coffee. Taste is medium sweetness, some light bitterness, and maltiness. Average carbonation, dry finish, kind of a slick mouthfeel. Overall, this is a nice brew. I enjoyed the balance, the sweetness, and the finish. A little more bitter bite would be nice but well done.

Caramel, toast, a little resin, spruce, and citrus on the nose. This medium bodied reddish ale retains a fine white head and reveals a little fruitiness upon tasting. However, the anticipated bitter finish never arrives, which is a bit of a letdown.

Bottle purchased at Triangle Liquors, Valpo. Poured a hazy, rusty orange with about an inch of white head, which quickly disappeared. The aroma was resinous and yeasty with a bit of caramel, but pallid. The taste is not as sweet as the commercial description suggests, rather medium-malty, cut by the simple, resinous bitterness of the hops. The palate is nicely balanced, softly carbonated. Well worth another round.
