Clear golden colour with huge white head, sweet candy floss aroma. Sweet malty flavours. Bloody premium again!!!!

Crystal clear golden coloured body with a pale white head. Aroma of pale malt, light sugars and very little else. Very light-bodied; Almost no malt flavour at all, a touch of alcohol and perhaps some sugars, with a faint herbal note. Aftertaste just as mild as the taste with some water left over, and that’s about it. Overall, not so good and not worth the premium label and premium price - I much preferred Fiji Bitter over this. I sampled one of these 33 cL bottles (one was enough) at the Octopus Resort on Waya Island (Yasawa Chain) in Fiji on 15-20 August 2009 on my honeymoon.

watery weak bland beer. not entirely sure why this merits the name premium. The premium tag does not justify the additional cost that this beer somehow commands. Drank this in bottle form. Perhaps on draught this would be better.

330ml bottle. There is not too much premium about this beer and the clear bottle lets you know what to expect. Very clear with a wisp of white foam. Amber yellow with grain aromas and a dry watery flavour that accompanies the thin body. I don’t think even the locals drink this.

Premium price, and the worst beer around in Fiji. Bottle. Pour is a bit more orange in color than the standard ones, a hint of fruit on the nose. Other than that watery, a bit skunky, and wholly disappointing.

Wherever this is served or sold there is an average $2 higher price tag compared to the other three commonly found Fijian beers (Gold, Bitter, Export), ostensibly to elevate this to “premium” status. It is quite ironic then, that I found this to be notably worse than the “regular” Fijian lagers. It had a thinner malt profile (more papery, watery) and worse still was the odd chemical/plastic note that accompanied the weakly bitter finish. I had this initially with some beautiful freshly caught wahoo, and the beer was a piss poor companion to the meal. My wife’s chardonnay was the better choice. And don’t get me wrong here, I realize I’m in Fiji and that I am destined to have crappy lagers at every turn. The thing that is annoying is the price mark up and the marketing spin of this being “premium” when in fact it is an inferior product to the mainstream lagers. Oh well, at least I drank it in Fiji!!

The worst beer in Fiji is called a premium. Clear bottle followed by a orange low carbonation watery dire beer. Bad. Stick to the better Fiji Bitter if on holidays in Fiji (though that is saying something).
