Bottled for Aldi. Deepish copper, thin white head. Rich powerful nose of malt & fruit, full bodied with a malt dominated palate. Hoppy bitters appear on the finish. Good beer.

Brown 500ml bottle, reviewed 16 days before it’s best before date in Aug 2011.
Poured into an Abbot Ale tankard: good amber coloured body, the head of big bubbles soon filtered away to a wispy covering.
The aroma is more malts than hops, unusual for an IPA. Semi-sweet molasses rule the smells, where are the hops?
The hops don’t seem to be in the initial taste either. They do come into their own in middle and later during the sip/gulps.
The 4.5% ABV sits well in the brew and although this doesn’t fit the normal IPA profile you’d expect it’s a pleasant drink.
I love Batemans beers, this one, brewed for the Aldi supermarket chain (UK) isn’t great, but it’s still worth trying considering the cost.

4.5% amber colour with a thin head, aroma of hops, a refreshing malt and hop taste, if you like hops you will like this one.

Bottle. A bit flattish and short. Not really a definitive IPA taste, with a butterscotch sweetness to it. Decent, if uninspiring.

500ml bottle. Pours dark gold with a medium head. Aroma is ever so slightly perfumey and maybe some pepper. Bready malt start and a pepper/spicy hop finish. Same as the other Finchley beer, boring but cheap.

(Bottled as Finchley’s India Pale Ale.) Bought from a Lidle store : This was very ordinary . The malt was gloopy and hentch , with fat touches of butterscotch . Hops unfloral . Not enjoyable.

Badged as, "Finchley’s India Pale Ale". Copper brown colour. Smells of shoe polish. Very light in the mouth with a thin body and a fast finish. Quite good mustard & nettle hops. Not unpleasant but the lack of body lets it down.

Pours clear amber with off white head. Weak aroma of malts and fruits. Flatish hoppy and crisp flav. is or. Weak on palate. Finish is bitter hoppy

Bottled A mid brown coloured beer with a whitish head. The aroma is a little malty with a slight cardboard note. Dry and fruity in the mouth with a little bitterness and hints of straw. Not too bad

Bottle from Grimsby Aldi. Chestnut red, good lasting off white head and gentle condition. Sweet malty toffee with slight burnt edge in the nose, bitter sweet in the mouth, some cloying toffee notes and a lingering smoky bitterness, lingering earthiness in the finish but still quite sweet and cloyingbefore drying off at the end.
