A deep red malt-forward ale brewed with plenty of caramel malts and a touch of rye, brewed and dry-hopped with Palisade and Zythos hops.

Pours murky dark amber with a fleeting off-white head. The aroma is malty and a bit nutty. Malt sweetness on the front with a little hop bitterness in the finish. Simple and straightforward.

Tap at Sugar Maple. Smooth caramel malt, end of the barrel. Big on the specialty malts, drinkable unexceptional offering. Enjoyable enough, but sort of a one-dimensional malt river. Not to say there isnít some hop balance, they just arenít competing. Drinkable, quite forgettable.

Pours a deep and hazy amber with a thin layer of tan head. Aromas is strong with some sweet and sticky floral notes as well as some piney resin. This beer has a very strong flavor, it almost tastes like bitter molasses with a tinge of alcohol which lends to a fantastic aroma but to somewhat of an overbearing flavor. The flavor profile tends to change a bit from sip to sip, but most of what I get is a sweet and somewhat rounded tart flavor. Pretty good.

Rated on 7-13-2013. This bottled beer pours a medium sized ivory head that is mostly lasting, fair amount of lacing, slow-rising carbonation, hazy body, and an orange hue. The Aroma is malty, caramel, sweet, and earthy hops. This beer taste of malt, caramel, earthy hops, lightly bitter, and some rye. The Palate is tingly and this is a medium bodied beer. All-in-all, the hops are upfront, but not over-the-top hoppy tasting. This beer is worth trying especially if one enjoys hops.

Pours a very, very dark amber with a thin, lingering beige head. The aroma contains a strong mixture of pineapple and caramel, along with bread, rye, cherry, and mild pine. Its an interesting blend. The taste seems is malty, along with some IPA impressions. With the latter, I find pine and a citrus combination of grapefruit and pineapple. There is lots of caramel, along with some rye and licorice as well. More full in body, with a thick, somewhat oily texture. Carbonation is more soft. Overall, I enjoy this one. It is different than a lot you find. It packs a pretty good kick, but doesnít hit you over the head. Its a good one to try.

Sampled from a 16 oz can this beer poured a murky brown color with a large creamy/soapy orange-brown head that lingered and left decent lacing. The aroma was pine, pineapple and crystal malt. The flavor was sour crystal malt, pine, resin and a bit of earthy hops. Medium length sour pine finish. Medium body. Alcohol well hidden. Ok.

Serving: 16 oz. can from State Line Liquors. It pours a deep ruddy color with a small off white head. The nose is a mix of pine resin, earth, dark caramel, and toasted malt. A good bit of citrus comes into play with the pine on the tongue. Still malt heavy with a good bit of bread, toasted malt, and dark caramel. Mouthfeel is good, but the flavor seems a touch out of balance.

This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a medium sized head of foamy light tan colored bubbles that were and left behind a transparent cola brown colored body and an excellent lacing. The balanced aroma was brown ale vinous and musty. The crisp mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish with a lingering hoppy aftertaste. The nice flavor contained notes of vinous brown malt and hops. Delicious and one I would certainly buy again.

Can. Poured 7/11/13. Pours a cloudy red-brown with a thin, fast to fade off-white head. Aroma is pineapple, bread, rye, caramel; simple but really nice. Taste is spicy, rye, bread, fruit, caramel, nice bitterness, creamy; finish is mild bitterness and fruit; again, thereís a certain simplicity here that is really nice. Some nice lacing. Rich full body. Medium carbonation. Should it win any awards? Probably not. Should it be drank? Absolutely.

650ml bottle. Rusty color. Aroma of musty beer, smells aged. At first scent, itís an Arrogant Bastard clone. Tastes of pine. Sharp pine. Toasted grain. Tastes like an American Strong Ale. (3756)
