Rich deep copper coloured body with a thick, three centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of alcohol, tons of fruit sweetness, honey, resinous hops, pine and a good malt backbone. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong malty flavour with plenty of alcohol, hops, honey and some light fruit notes - even on the finish. Aftertaste shows a very nice rich malt flavour with a good hint of alcohol, but not overwhelming and a rather syrupy and resinous hop finish. Overall, a nice beer with plenty of flavour, some good hop kicks and a nice malt backbone throughout. I sampled this 16 ounce can purchased from Merchant’s in Dearborn, Michigan on 02-August-2013 for US$2.99 sampled a day later at home in Woodhaven, Michigan on 03-August-2013.

Poured from 16oz can into a snifter. A- Sweet Caramel and Raisin. Pulling some Molasses in the scent. A-Murky, dark amber hue. Frothy head initailly that disappears in a minute to a minimal amount. T-Sweet, Raisin, dark fruit, with a little spice at the end. must be from the rye. Hard to pull much hop character out of this other than the dryness/bitterness at the end. Seems maybe the rye is playing the same role as the hops with the spiciness perhaps. P-Dense liquid with velvety carbonation. Actually makes really good sense with the flavors and slight heat from alcohol. O- Very enjoyable. I like the dark fruit quality playing with the rye. Creative and Interesting to say the least. A fun beer to share with friends to challage their norm beer.

473ml can at Nosh in Portland, ME. Caramel colour. Big hop aroma. Taste is some strong grapefruit, pine and earthy hops followed by some strong caramel malt, finished with a little rye spiciness. Body was a little syrupy. Alcohol taste was mostly masked, but one can gave me a decent buzz. Overall, not sure this worked together great, but it is what it says it is, and was rather intense.

Total Wine, Fairfax 4-pack: Pours amber with a light beige head. Aroma is some citrus hops, rye, a whole lot of caramel. This beer is mostly sweet, caramel malts, balanced against a lighter hoppy undertone. Aftertaste is a plenty of sugar. Kind of sweet, but not cloying. Easy to drink for the ABV.

Pours murky dark amber with a fleeting off-white head. The aroma is malty and a bit nutty. Malt sweetness on the front with a little hop bitterness in the finish. Simple and straightforward.

Tap at Sugar Maple. Smooth caramel malt, end of the barrel. Big on the specialty malts, drinkable unexceptional offering. Enjoyable enough, but sort of a one-dimensional malt river. Not to say there isn’t some hop balance, they just aren’t competing. Drinkable, quite forgettable.

Pours a deep and hazy amber with a thin layer of tan head. Aromas is strong with some sweet and sticky floral notes as well as some piney resin. This beer has a very strong flavor, it almost tastes like bitter molasses with a tinge of alcohol which lends to a fantastic aroma but to somewhat of an overbearing flavor. The flavor profile tends to change a bit from sip to sip, but most of what I get is a sweet and somewhat rounded tart flavor. Pretty good.

Rated on 7-13-2013. This bottled beer pours a medium sized ivory head that is mostly lasting, fair amount of lacing, slow-rising carbonation, hazy body, and an orange hue. The Aroma is malty, caramel, sweet, and earthy hops. This beer taste of malt, caramel, earthy hops, lightly bitter, and some rye. The Palate is tingly and this is a medium bodied beer. All-in-all, the hops are upfront, but not over-the-top hoppy tasting. This beer is worth trying especially if one enjoys hops.

Pours a very, very dark amber with a thin, lingering beige head. The aroma contains a strong mixture of pineapple and caramel, along with bread, rye, cherry, and mild pine. Its an interesting blend. The taste seems is malty, along with some IPA impressions. With the latter, I find pine and a citrus combination of grapefruit and pineapple. There is lots of caramel, along with some rye and licorice as well. More full in body, with a thick, somewhat oily texture. Carbonation is more soft. Overall, I enjoy this one. It is different than a lot you find. It packs a pretty good kick, but doesn’t hit you over the head. Its a good one to try.

Sampled from a 16 oz can this beer poured a murky brown color with a large creamy/soapy orange-brown head that lingered and left decent lacing. The aroma was pine, pineapple and crystal malt. The flavor was sour crystal malt, pine, resin and a bit of earthy hops. Medium length sour pine finish. Medium body. Alcohol well hidden. Ok.
