Finch’s Fascist Pig Ale has a thick, cream-colored head, a murky, rust-red, bubbly appearance, and lot of heavy lacing left behind on the glass. The aroma is of spicy (from the rye, I suppose), bready, malt and hop resin, with some background citrus. Taste is of sweet, spiced bread, hop resin, black pepper, and noticeable, yet, not harsh, bitterness. There is also a tannin note. Mouthfeel is medium, and Finch’s Fascist Pig Ale finishes smooth, easy-going, semi-dry, and highly drinkable. RJT

Pint can with Barb and Henry. Decent beer but nothing particularly unique. Pours a really appealing caramel/ amber color with nice white head. Lacing, lacing, lacing. Definitely malty, sweet, caramel, toffee, raisin, plum dominate but drinks fairly smooth. Some bitter and spice in the finish adds balance. Slick mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Alcohol fairly well hidden. Drinkable.

Nearing perfection, this deplorable fascist pig is a malt lovers dream. Dripping with caramel in both flavor and aroma, the ample sweet maltiness of this beer is tempered by an earthy hop profile that blends perfectly with the malt base. Pours a hazy light brown and floats a medium sized tan head that leaves thick wads of lacing on the glass. A near perfect Strong Ale. The only element that could use improvement is that it sports a very mellow carbonation. In this case it could use a bit more bubbly to cleanse the palate in between swallows. My first from Finch’s and I’m very impressed with this can delivered nirvana beer.

2/11/15 - Monk’s Pub (Chicago) - Draft - Unique colour and smell of lemon and cinnamon. A little sweater than I prefer, but I enjoyed it none the less. The texture was very light, the taste good, not very strong. Good beer and I’m glad I tried it.
