A deep red malt-forward ale brewed with plenty of caramel malts and a touch of rye. Brewed and dry-hopped with Palisade and Zythos hops and aged for over six months in Koval barrels, a local Chicago distillery.

from bomber pours a fairly deep mahogany red color..nose is whiskey...trace of leather and tobacco..some sweet vanilla perhaps molasses and yes caramel..medium mouthfeel..is fairly smooth at first with some noticeable sweetness..lingering whiskey heat warms you up and stays around with a trace of alcohol burn..interesting all around..tastes like those kraft caramel squares..if they were a darker color and given a whiskey bath..

Bomber from Woodmans in the Falls, cellar aged 4 months. Pours a murky brownish tan with an off white head leaving spots of lace. Aroma has bourbon. And bourbon. Later some fruits and faint caramelly malt show up. It is a nice vanilla, though. Taste is of sweet vanilla, with citrus and stone fruits, and a solid toffee base. Never gets too sweet, which could have been an issue with vanilla/toffee. Some alcohol presence. Medium bodied, and sticky. Finishes long and oaky bourbon sweet, with fruit. Solid tasty, bourbon-y brew. Stays away from cloying, telling me they picked the correct brew to barrel.

Bomber into a snifter - nose is bourbon. Bourbon dominates the sip as well. Sweet and woody.

Bottle shared by Chudwick. I am tired and sleepy and don’t want to talk beer anymore. The end.

Bottle, shared with Parksy. Very hazy medium amber with a light gold head. Very malty, chewy, bread pudding, toffee, with a kiss of hops. Barley wine territory, just not as dense.

This is one amazing brew, pours dark orange/amber color with a small film of head and the smell of malts and vanilla jumps straight out! Taste is wonderful loads of malts and whiskey sweetness followed by some alcohol warmth, Great brew!

Oh well this beer is delicious! Brown color with some delicious bourbon flavors. Nice hop and malt balance. I taste the bourbon sweetness through this one with some brown sugar and a little hop bitterness in the finish!

22 ounce bottle
Picked up from the local store this was a fair deal at $10.99 a bomber. On par with the other Finch’s beers that I have had the opportunity to try it is excellent on many levels. I would highly recommend this to anyone who likes barrel aged high gravity beers.

Aroma / Appearance - A deep chestnut brown base with creamy head soaks up the light. Smoky vanilla, malt, and cream provide a heavy foundation for the alcohol to hang in. Other flavors are present but hard to pin down.

Flavor / Palate - Cream, vanilla, and caramel are a chewy backbone for a rich mouthfeel. The whiskey sweetens the profile as it hits the throat. A full bodied beer never overwhelms. With great balance between the barrel treatment and base beer it adds a nuance that has one reaching for another sip immediately. If Finch’s keeps this up they will be on the radar for a long time to come.

22 ounce bottle shared with Maryland friends, poured into a tasting glass. Pours a hazy amber brown with off-white head. Aromas of whiskey, caramel, dark fruit. Tasting notes of whiskey, sweet malt, caramel, light coconut. Medium body with a warm and dry finish. Medium carbonation, syrupy mouthfeel. Solid beer, not sure if I could drink it all on my own so I’m glad I had others to share with.
