Poured from a bottle at home in my snifter. Is this an IPA or a stout? The bottle says black ipa, my palate says it's between a stout and a bipa. Lots of roast and black molasses. A hoppy finish for sure is enjoyed. Don't buy this for a bipa, it is not. It is tasty though!

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Dark mostly opaque black pour w/ a small dense brown head with some thick lacing. Rich roasty sweet aroma. Sweet malts a touch of syrup and a hint of orange zest in the form of a light hop load. Full well coated nice palate. Taste is a bit one dimensional a wheaty lightly bitter chocolate almost a coccoa powder. Finishes lightly bitter with a light citrus. Good beer.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at Union Brewing. Pours dark brown with a tan head. Aroma and flavor of dark chocolate, malt with some citrus. Not a bitter as the 80 IBUs would indicate but still a nice Black IPA.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
22oz bottle I picked up at Schneider’s. Pours a oily opaque black with some creamy beige head. Nose has some toast, dried malt, coffee grounds, brown sugar, rubber band, some dried lemon peel, a little dusty couch. Flavor has a lot of rubber, malt, toast, burnt caramel, orange, pine, soap, coffee ground, dirt. Earthy finish.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
22oz bomber thanks to Brigadier, thanks Nate! Pours pitch black with a thick brown head and lacing in the entire glass, looks like a impy stout, aroma was of more chocolate and sweetness than anything, not a lot of the hops or citrus come through on the nose, the flavor is almost all chocolate and roast, really no hops coming through, some coffee as well, honestly if this was a porter I’d think it was pretty well done, but as a black ipa not so much. It’s not bad at all, just has no ipa characteristics to it at all, strange.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
22oz bottle: pours an oily black with a creamy froth of beige head. Has a fresh resiny hop nose with some dark roasted malts. Starts with good fullness and sweet toasty dark malts well-balanced with piny hops before a drier bittersweet finish. True to style and enjoyable.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at Smokin Joes. Pours dark brown with light tan head with some nice lacing. Aromas of sweet chocolately malts, roast, dark fruits, some citrus, a little pine. Flavors roasted malts, little dark fruit, chocolate, bit of citrusy hops, and nice amount of bitterness. Real nice lacing and has some nice of elements, but like a lot of black IPA’s the flow of Flavors seams a bit off. Worth a shot though as by black IPA standards this is solid
