Pint can. What I really like about this ale is the aromatic and flavorful blend and balance of chocolate malt and piney resinous hops. Dark black with a tan head and medium body. At 8% this is a substantial black IPA in every sense. Exactly what I want in this style.

Can at trailer tasting. Mahogany body with tan head. Nice dark chocolate, earthy dirt aromas with a big pine hoppage. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Semi sweet chocolate, black malt, pine, floral flavors----nice chocolate hop finish_____tasty.

Can. Chocolate malt and spruce aroma. Dark brown with moderate tan head. Sweet light chocolate malt and strong bitter spruce/grapefruit peel flavor. Lingering hops bitterness. A hop bomb.

Love the label, a boar vs a croc! .. . Pours s deep brown .. The head is healthy .. Lots of roast and burnt hop particles.. Mouth is a bit creamy, solid finish .. . This was enjoyable .. . . Zebras are the ultimate fugitives

Can. My first impression was that damn this is a very malt heavy IPA. Then about halfway through i realized it was a black IPA and it started to make sense. Not really as chocolaty and stout as my favorite black IPAs. More nutty and caramelly. Still piney and citrusy. Decent but a little bit of a chore to get through.

From the can marked 00635 on the bottom. Deep black pour with foamy tan head. Fantastic aroma of dark malts, licorice, grape, raisins, and earthy hops. The body is medium to full. Roasted flavor to start and decent bitterness at the finish. Alcohol masked.

Pour from 16oz can. Very dark brown with brown head. Citrus grapefruit aroma with hints of roast chocolate. Flavor is more cocoa than expected at first, then it is quite citrus in flavor. Finish has lingering dark chocolate. This may have too much chocolate for a black IPA but I enjoyed it a lot.

Tap at Engine Room. Black with darker tan head. Roasty nose. Dark malt and hops conflict a bit here with burnt and roast winning out. Not sure this works for me.

16 oz can pours dark with a nice creamy lace off white head that stays. Smells of mix of roasted malts and piney hops. Has a nice creamy mouthfeel and nice body, incredibly easily drinkable for 8%. Has a roasted malt flavor, hops nicely accentuate the bitterness of the malt but aren’t particularly strong. Still this is quite a nice Black IPA, it doesn’t overdo it on either malt or hops like most, which makes it one of the better representations of the style.

16 oz. can purchased at the Beer Store, Nashua, NH. Pours pitch black with lasting fluffy head. Aroma shows light roast with a moderate amount of earthy pine. I enjoy the aroma.

The Flavor show the nice lingering pine throughout the sip with a decent amount of roast. Thicker caramel and burnt malts supports the pine and mild notes of citrus. Citrus only found when it was real warm in the last 7 oz. of the beer. (Sipped this slow) secondary tones of coffee. The texture is dry with a decent medium to fuller body. A nice drink.
