COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Threadless/Finch collaboration IPA is a balanced experience of both perceived hoppiness and true bitterness. It pours a darker amber color and finishes with a citrus flavor, and when combined, will require this to be the last IPA you ever drink! Well, maybe, we realize you will probably drink more, but the result of this recipe clearly evolves into a very balanced IPA. The grain bill on this big pale includes melanoidin and Victory malts. We hop it up before the boil starts with some Columbus first wort hopping, then add a bunch more for bittering.

16oz can poured into a snifter. A- Grassy bread malt with mild herb and citrus notes. A-Amber orange hue with a slight off-white head that disappears quickly. Lacing is minimal and slight haze density. T-Initial malt taste is small amounts of caramel, hay, grass. Hop character is herbal, some lemon and citrus. P-Carbonation is pleasant, sweetness of malt is moderate that pulls to the back with nice bitterness and dryness. O-Enjoy this unique malt for an IPA. Really nice to have this much bready and cereal quality for a tweak more citrus hop character for what I would initially classify English based on the more prodominant herb and grassy tones. Very enjoyable. Aroma-pleasant grassy, herb, and Citrus Appearance-Nice Orange, lacing should show better health Taste-Enjoy Malt uniqueness with Herb & Citrus hop character Palate-Good mouthfeel. Sweetness to bitterness enjoyable Overall-A very good mix and hybrid of British & American IPA qualities.

It poured a hazy amber color with a white head. The aroma was of citrus, toast and some florals. The taste was of medium bitters and a touch of sweetness while the citrus shined through. Very well done.

Amber with a medium sized, white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of pine, floral hops, skunk, toast, and grass. Taste of citrus, pine, grass, and grapefruit.

7/26/2013: Finch’s Threadless IPA - Hmmm... Smells a bit sour, but the flavor is okay; moderate-high bitterness with a floral perfume hop flavor along with some melon. Overall, this IPA is good, but not great, in my opinion.

Draught (sample) at Party Town in Florence, KY. Rating #174 for this beer.

Total Wine, Fairfax 4-pack: Pours amber color with off-white head. Aroma is grapefuit, pine, and fairly hefty malt. Taste is pretty bitter, but is also combined with a caramely sweetness. Ain’t the greatest IPA. I would have prefered it to be less malty.

First off -- this is the kind of ipa that we crave & fight & pull our hair over about in Canada. Solid, sessionable & tasty. Pours deep orange with a nice fluffy cap. Aroma is rich with pine. Tastes great: hoppy, juicy & slightly citrus. If I could get this easily it’d be my regular. Luckily I got four of ’em before i hopped the border. Mail some to me & I won’t return to sender.

Had both on draft at Taphouse/Queensway and out of a can on the same Sunday afternoon. On tap, this appeared golden and hazy with just a thin, sticky head. From the can, it came out ruddy orange and well topped. Makes me question my local taphouse! In both cases, this emits a decent, woody, piney aroma. The beer from the can is much better overall, and drives this rating. A firm, solid mid-American IPA, and easy to drink. More, please. (#5174, 7/21/2013)

Serving: 16 oz. can from State Line Liquors. It pours a muddy orange with a small, off white head. Lots of yeasties floating around in this brew. There are light notes of orange and grapefruit. The flavor seems to lack a nice hop punch. Some earthy malts with that orange and grapefruit making an encore. Medium bodied. Rather average in the IPA world.

This really nice IPA poured a cloudy copper color with virtually no head. The nose was well-balanced and inviting, with notes of sweet malt, grassy hops, lemon, grapefruit and a slight touch of wheat. The body was very smooth and drinkable and featured plenty of hops. The flavors are balanced very nicely with some caramel malt and wheat. Besides the floral and grassy hops, I tasted some lemon, grapefruit and pine. The beer finished dry, mellow and creamy.

Nose is of sweet toffee or caramel. Little head. Light bodied and very smooth, like a draft beer. Rich and citrusy hops with a firm malt sweetness serving as a backbone. The bitterness is assertive but not overpowering, by any stretch, and lingers on in a somewhat dry finish. This is a very well blended beer, and is reminiscent of a really good draft IPA.
