COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Threadless/Finch collaboration IPA is a balanced experience of both perceived hoppiness and true bitterness. It pours a darker amber color and finishes with a citrus flavor, and when combined, will require this to be the last IPA you ever drink! Well, maybe, we realize you will probably drink more, but the result of this recipe clearly evolves into a very balanced IPA. The grain bill on this big pale includes melanoidin and Victory malts. We hop it up before the boil starts with some Columbus first wort hopping, then add a bunch more for bittering.

On tap at the GTMW 2011. Hazy amber with a thin tan head and a fair amount of lacing. Aroma of stinky, sticky resinous hops with some citrus and caramel beneath. Taste of resinous west-coasty hops, toasted pale malt, mild caramel and citrus. Full bodied brew finishes up nice and bitter and is pretty tasty.

16 oz can purchased at Pinocchio?s Beer Garden in Media, Pennsylvania. The pour is a very hazy copper golden with a one inch off white head. The aroma is pine and bitter grapefruit citrus peel. Some cereal grain in the nose as well. The taste is caramel, cereal grain up front followed by the the pine and finishes with the sharp bitter grapefruit peel. The palate is medium bodied, low carbonation level and unfiltered mouth feel. Slightly sweet finish which was a bit disjointed. There was no date information on the can, and I expect this was a bit on the old side. Overall, decent IPA.

Sample at Binny’s Downers Grove 4/4/12-Pours an amber body with a small head. Aroma of hops and malt. Taste of the same with a bit more malt. This medium to full bodied brew is pretty well balanced and goes down easy.

It poured a hazy amber color with a white head. The aroma was of citrus, toast and some florals. The taste was of medium bitters and a touch of sweetness while the citrus shined through. Very well done.

On tap at Sharp Edge Beer Emporium. Pours a clear orange with a thin white head. Aroma of sweet malt, light acetone, citrus, grassy hops. Flavor is sweet with a sharp hops kick in the finish. A little sweet for an IPA. 6/4/6/4/13 (3.3/5)

Pours golden/lt amber with a medium white head. Aroma has some mango and caramely sweetness. Flavor follows suit...too malty for my taste in IPAs. Mouthfeel is medium/full with an earthy caramel/bitter finish.

This was poured into a nonic pint glass. The appearance was a hazy bronzed orange color with a one and a half finger white foamy head that dissipated within less than a minute leaving some messy lacing. The smell had a sharp sweet to bitter citrus blend coursing it’s way between bittersweet pine. A nice caramel malt backbone graces underneath. The taste was balanced between the sweet citrus and bitter pine and levels out to the malt backbone nicely. A nice balanced citrus sweetness to pine aftertaste leads to a semi-dry citrus finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a wonderful sessionability about it. The carbonation seemed good for the style and for me. Bitterness seemed balanced as well to have a nice harshness against my tongue. Overall, this was a really nice fairly crushable AIPA that I would love to have again and possibly even just drink from the can on a hot Summer’s day.

7/26/2013: Finch’s Threadless IPA - Hmmm... Smells a bit sour, but the flavor is okay; moderate-high bitterness with a floral perfume hop flavor along with some melon. Overall, this IPA is good, but not great, in my opinion.

Draught (sample) at Party Town in Florence, KY. Rating #174 for this beer.

On tap at the annual CBS picnic, and self served to clear plastic with a hazed, orange/amber hue, a thick amount of creamy head foam, and curtainy cling to the lacing. The aroma was light grain, citrus as grapefruit and some orange, light sweetness, and a touch of resin. The flavor presented an earthy, pungent, and very lingering hop bitterness, but enough malt to smooth the edge a bit. Well carbonated, and medium bodied, it paired well with the spicy picnic faire, and was my IPA choice of the day.
