COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Threadless/Finch collaboration IPA is a balanced experience of both perceived hoppiness and true bitterness. It pours a darker amber color and finishes with a citrus flavor, and when combined, will require this to be the last IPA you ever drink! Well, maybe, we realize you will probably drink more, but the result of this recipe clearly evolves into a very balanced IPA. The grain bill on this big pale includes melanoidin and Victory malts. We hop it up before the boil starts with some Columbus first wort hopping, then add a bunch more for bittering.

Pour is cloudy orange. Tan head dies quickly with minimum lacing on glass. Wonderful nose of pine, floral, sugar, caramel, and fresh bakery. Flavor is of floral hops, grapefruit, and pine. Low carbonation. I love bitter hops, but these are too bitter and overpower the other flavors. This drags the score down. Also, for this style the alcohol content is too low.

Poured from a 16oz can. Aroma - almost a green apple / caramel smell. Appearace - slightly hazy golden pour with almost zero head. Taste - Citrus with a backbone of bitterness....not bad. Palate - Smooth - not too carbonated... Overall - not too bad. A little light on the body, but a decent beer.

ARH (400) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - SEP 6, 2014
On tap poured into a shaker. The initial aroma is kinda burnt toast, but this fades and gives way to a strong citrus and spruce combination. I light caramel note comes in late. It pours a clear honey orange color with a creamy off-white head that retains a thick creamy layer across the surface as well as leaves a good amount of sheet lacing. The taste is a medium high bitter with a medium sweetness to it. The oily texture has a medium light body and creamy carbonation and it finishes with a sprucey, warm caramel, citrus and citrus peel finish. It’s a dry beer with a strong spruce / resin aftertaste.

16oz can. Small off-white head atop clear amber body. Aroma is moderately sweet, grapefruit/lemon, some bread, faint cardboard. Taste is moderately sweet, grapefruit, some lemon/lime, bread. Light-medium body, light acidity, resin.

Pours a hazy orange with lasting head and good lacing. Aroma is fairly strong citrus zest and pine. Taste is more malt forward. OK, but not a great IPA in my opinion.

Jabic (427) - Brigantine, New Jersey, USA - AUG 5, 2014
Ar: Resin, black pepper - orange zest, grapefruit - intensity is fairly strong. Ap: Golden-orange, clear - large off-white head, great retention, leaves a rocky mountain of foam. T: Toasted malt, slight medium and light caramels - lemon and grapefruit - pine - bitterness is medium-high, clean - low sweetness - grapefruit and pine on the finish. P: Medium body with medium carbonation - finish is medium-dry. O: Good AIPA - hop flavor is firm and pronounced, though as sticky and pungent as some examples - it could use a bit more carbonation.

Draft at Milkboy. Cloudy orange amber pour. Started with a large foamy head but it rather quickly reduced to a thin ring. No lace. Fuzzy oranges. Medium amber fruit. Cantaloupe. Light toast. Blood orange juice. Gently sweet in the middle. Dry lightly spicy finish. Fuller and smoother than most. Nicely constructed.
