COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Threadless/Finch collaboration IPA is a balanced experience of both perceived hoppiness and true bitterness. It pours a darker amber color and finishes with a citrus flavor, and when combined, will require this to be the last IPA you ever drink! Well, maybe, we realize you will probably drink more, but the result of this recipe clearly evolves into a very balanced IPA. The grain bill on this big pale includes melanoidin and Victory malts. We hop it up before the boil starts with some Columbus first wort hopping, then add a bunch more for bittering.

Tasty beer. It is a little to bitter to make it sessionable, but it is nice full, hoppy beer. Orangish in color and very hazy. The hops are oily and leave quite a bit of lacing. There is quite a bit of pine in the aroma.

Can.
Appearance: Murky orange/amber body with no head.
Aroma: Grassy, slightly earthy, some orange.
Taste: Odd grassy/orange pith flavor with a grassy, herbal and sweet orange finish. Malts are noticed adding sweetness.
Palate: Medium bodied, mildly carbonated.
Overall: Not sure what to think of this. I can drink it, but I don’t enjoy it.

Fr0m the pint-sized can this p0ured a hazy light amber b0dy with a tw0-fingered ecru head. The ar0ma had s0me bready malt with a d0ll0p 0f caramel c0vered by mild citrus and earthy scents. The taste was h0ppier, tart 0ranges and tangerines giving a sustained bitterness. The bread and caramel flav0rs balanced it all 0ut, perhaps a tad t00 much f0r an IPA. N0t a bad drink and w0rth repeating, which is g00d, since I have three m0re cans.

Can from Brewmasters. Reddish-Orange hue, zero visiibility with mostly diminishing white head, fair lacing. Strong citrus hop on the nose, halfway through it started to smell like a hog or turkey house in North Carolina on a warm day. The taste was a typical strong bitter hop, but it had some strange taste on the finish that I couldn’t pinpoint and I didn’t like it.

Can. Yet, another IPA. This one is just kind of average. Color was gold. Really not much head for a IPA. Taste was typical except there was a weird after taste yo it. Almost chemical like. Aroma typical.

Poured into a pint glass out of a growler. Pours a nearly clear medium copper with a one finger white head. Some light lacing on the sides of the glass along with a small layer of fizz on top of the beer. The aroma is much more Earthy than fruity with tree bark, soil, and an overall dank quality about it. A touch of pine is thrown in but the aroma is far from piny. The flavor continues this earthy character. I pick up on the dankness much more in the flavor along with more pine and tree bark. There is perhaps a touch of overripe orange but the fruit is very understated. Bitterness is on the high side with a good mouthfeel and just a touch of stickiness on the finish. Overall, a good IPA but there is really nothing about it that makes it stand out from all of the others out there. Good to drink but forgettable afterwards.

1/2/2014. From can. Cloudy amber color with a white head. Lots of sediment floating around. Floral aromas with pine, citrus and caramel. Nice hoppy flavors with caramel. Long dry finish.

On tap at North End Cafe, Bardstown Rd. (Louisville). Aroma: Grapefruit and sweet malts are nearly balanced; there’s some pineapple notes to give a little more interest. Definitely more malty than some of the more recent IPAs. Appearance: Translucent light copper pour with a bubbly bone head. Flavor: Good amount of juicy pineapple up front with the grapefruit; the malts are really present and quite sweet; never really dries up the way a top tier IPA should. Palate: Medium body, creamy texture, average carbonation, bitter finish. Overall: A solid beer, but a middling IPA at best. Surprised to see it ranked so highly.

Poured from 16oz can. aroma is of citrus, grapefruit, pine, and sour caramel. Color is of an orange hue that is hazy in color with a lots of sediment. It definitely could use some cleaning way to much sediment. Taste is citrus, pine some soft grapefruit notes malt flavors are sour caramel and has some off flavors like butter and other sour notes. Lots of bitterness here. It feels oily and and clings to the palate leaves a soapy taste in back of throat. Moderate carbonation. Overall, not one I would seek out to try again very mediocre.
