2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 jookos (829) - Helsinki, FINLAND - JUN 12, 2013
Bottle, 0.5. Brown murky with good yeast dregs if you let it sit. The quality of this product varies a lot, depending not only on the batch quality, as it is exceptionally sensitive to at what point you drink it and how it’s been handled. The one I’m having is really pea/asparagus- tainted, yeasty with some phenolic/bad alcohol vibes. Under that a really musty ripe banana, sweet malts, juniper. It’s hard to rate something this volatile, but this is what I feel about this one. I’ll probably average it out when I get a better sample to try.
1.2 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20 3fourths (7063) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - MAY 31, 2013
UPDATED: JUN 5, 2013 sample from a jug at St Urho’s Pub, Helsinki. Faintly hazed amber, still body. Acetone and banana nose with sharp alcohols that make it seem closer to 15-17% than 10%. Boozy browned banana liqueur and paint thinner / rubbing alcohol. Raw and wort-y. Flat, lightly acidic, sweet, low bitterness. Lingering alcohol burn in the finish. Unpalatable.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 MisoW (113) - Bratislava, SLOVAK REPUBLIC - APR 24, 2013
0,75l bottle. Small white head. Flavor is malts, sweet juniper/berry. Very nicely hidden alcohol and minimal carbonation.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 Marstonlad (191) - Helsinki, FINLAND - MAR 6, 2013
Pours hazy dark brown with no head at all. Aroma is pretty unique for a beer, though some similarities exist with weizenbocks. It is very sweet and full of overripe banana and spicy notes of juniper. Taste is intensive, heavily sweet with the flavour of banana. Spiciness is also very much around. No hoppiness at all, slightly sour in the finish. Palate is medium to full bodied and sticky. Alcohol warms but doesn’t appear in the taste which makes this deceptively easy to drink. Sahti isn’t the most complex beer style but definitely one of the most interesting. I love it!

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 fantti (464) - FINLAND - JAN 14, 2013
Suutuntuma on täyteläinen, lopussa tuntui alkoholin polttavuus. Kokonaisuutena hieno ja täyteläisen makuinen suomalainen oman alansa huipputuote.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 laiti (4016) - Tampere, FINLAND - JAN 9, 2013
75 cl bottle @ Nurmo. Rated on 25.06.2010
Aroma is rather sweet with banana esthers, yeasty notes, toffee and alcohol. Flavour is sweet with banana, toffee, some warming and slightly stinging alcohol and yeasty notes. A solid sahti.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Marduk (1328) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - NOV 24, 2012
750ml bottle (shared by FatPhil, thanks). Muddy brown color with some redish hue. Banana, bready, yeasty, bit sour and alcohol in aroma. Sweet, mildly bitter, yeast, alcohol in flavor. Alcohol is way too up in front and kind of shades all other fine flavors.
2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 Travlr (8186) - Washington, Washington DC, USA - NOV 8, 2012
75 cl plastic bottle flown in from the motherland (fatherland?), courtesy of Greg at ChurchKey, thank you sir! Murky brown color, flat. Aroma of sour orange peel, spice, Christmas trees. Taste is sour and spiced summer fruit. Interesting but tough stuff!
