COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Winter is about spreading the warmth and we crafted this beer to do just that. It’s got a festive, layered blend of hops and specialty malts that’s sure to keep you toasty even on the iciest days. Crack a Fire Island Frozen Tail Ale open around a roaring fire with some friends, or in the solitude of your backyard while you build a snowman. It’s great either way. Happy Holidays!

Bottle from Half Time. Pours dark brown with a creamy tan head. Aroma is heavy brown malt. Hints of hop. Med body. Flavor is sort of toasted vanilla dark malt. There is some hop bitter. The finish is malt bitter. There’s caramel sweetness, but it overbalances. Not the greatest beer, but certainly a winter warmer of excellence.

Nice drawing on the label of FI in winter. This here is a malty amber with a nippy bite. Very nice fresh aroma. Flavors of bitter coffee and a dash of strong wine. This has a slightly heavy, off-kilter amber taste. Pretty good.

Despite the relatively low ratings this is one of my favorite beers. It’s easy to drink and full of flavor. Aroma isn’t the strongest or most complex. Some hops, malt and alcohol are noticeable. Flavor is strong bready malt up front. This is followed by a nice amount of hops and caramel sweetness. It ends with some fruit, not too much but definitely noticeable, cherry and prunes. In my opinion it was actually a very nicely balanced beer.

Bottle. Cherry/raspberry, toffee malt and alcohol aroma. Chestnut color with minimal head. Slightly sweet toffee malt and moderately bitter/astringent alcohol flavor. Pretty rough.

A reddish brown ale with a thick brown head. In aroma, a sweet nutty malt with fruity esters and cinnamon. In mouth, a nice nutty malt with burned caramel, molasses, woody notes, very nice. On tap at Shorty’s on 9th Ave, Dec. 29 2011.

Bottle. Pours a clear brown with a medium sized tanned beige head. Toast on the nose, soft spice and a bit of roast. Medium bodied, a bit grainy and toasty. Nutty, toasty malt. Comes off as a slightly weaker schwarzbier. Long bitter finish. Easy drinking, if not all that amazing.

Bottle. Pours a deep brown black color with a very thick pillowy head$ smells of malt, figs and dates. Taste is similar but a little bland and flavorless. Seems more like a brown ale then an american strong.
