Draft. Deep amber red color, smells of cinnamon Nd spice with nutmeg. Not too overly sweet which I like. Well balanced

Location: Draft at Grand Cru in Rhinebeck - 10/1/11

Aroma: This one has a big nose with pumpkin and lots of spice (nutmeg, cinnamon, etc...)
Appearance: This brew pours into the glass a dark orange with a decent sized beige head
Flavor: Tastes right on with the nose, lots of spice flavors mostly, finishes with a touch of earthy hop
Palate: It is medium bodied, it has a quite fizzy feel, and it drys out a bit as the finish tingles on the tongue
Overall Impression: This one had a big spice/pumpkin flavor and nose, which I quite enjoyed. The plus carbonation was really the only "downfall" I had with this one, and it isn’t really that big a detraction. I thought this was an enjoyable beer, and a very nice example of style, but I tend to be a big fan of this style in general.

12 oz. Bottle at home. Hazy amber, thick white head. Aroma is of pumpkin pie spices and sweet malt. The beer is very well balanced, spicy, fruity, malty, and a mild hop bitterness on the finish. The pumpkin is not overpowering, and it works well with the crystal malt. Feels a little out of place in mid July, but it’s pretty nice.

12oz bottle in a shaker. Pours deep amber with a lingering, cream-colored head. Aroma of pumpkin with some other spices and a light hop finish. The beer is a pretty good pumpkin ale, but not the best beer in general.

Deep amber pour. Thick, sticky tan head. The nose is loaded with fresh pumpkin pie spices. Clove and allspice especially. Malty with a lot of crystal malt. Prickly carbonation and a touch of peppery alcoholic character. Fairly hoppy for a pumpkin ale as well, although it’s not hoppy aromatic - just bitter and well-balanced with a nice soft spicy finish. It’s a pretty by-the-number beer, but it works fairly well.

Bottle. Pours an amber body with a white head shortly lived. Pumpkin notes, very dank pumpkin, pumpkin seeds and incense. Hop character is dim and slightly bitter. Lightly spicy with a thin body. Eh.

12 oz bottle. Pours a deep woody bright amber with a slight thinning head. Aroma is big in the pumpkin spices, nutmeg, cinnamon, clove, allspice and hints of vanilla, good sweet caramel and seems like it may be fair bodied. Flavor betrays the aroma, as it is thin, listless, slight spice, lacking body and character, and just thin and watery with a lame insipid finish. meh.

Bottle:   Fiery amber, moderate frothy off-white head, spotty lacing.   Soft cinnamon, nutmeg, and all-spice on the nose.   Spices are very muted as I first sip this, and quickly fall away.   Has a smidgen of tartness to it too.   Appearance and nose are good, but starts to fade from then on.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Finishes pretty plainly, muted spices that are difficult to decipher.   A fairly forgettable Pumpkin Ale, unfortunately.
