3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 riversideAK (4566) - Shoreline, USA - AUG 15, 2011
Caramel, iced tea, candied citrus, grapefruit, and sweet orange on the nose. Pours hazy amber, nice creamy head and sticky lace. The flavor starts sweet with caramel and iced tea notes followed by candied citrus, grapefruit, orange, some floral notes. Lingering caramelly notes. Too much caramel malt for my liking, but not flawed, and not bad. Just not how I prefer my IPA’s.

Draught. I’m not totally sure I got what I asked for on this one. The server insisted this was the NW IPA I asked for but wow this thing was spicy and lacking hop bitterness. Sure did taste like a belgian wheat.

22. Pours a hazy burnished medium amber with a loose lightweight tan head. Big pushy garlic and pine nose over caramel. Creamy medium body with lively carb. Mid palate shows pine, garlic, and plastic, with caramel under. Long shampoo and garlic finish.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 BeerNeedy (111) - Anchorage, Alaska, USA - SEP 13, 2011
This is a respectable Northwest IPA that goes down smooth. It pours a clear amber with little head or lacing. At first it seems aggressive but ultimately wins you over with a nice hop/malt balance.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 womencantsail (3932) - Home of Rebecca Black, California, USA - SEP 1, 2011
A: The pour is golden orange in color with a finger or two of white head.
S: A very sweet, very malt forward IPA. Lots of toffee, caramel, and brown sugar notes with only a little bit of hops. Some grass and citrus peel are most of the hop character with a light herbal note.
T: Almost a chore to choke this down. Sweet and malty with light grass and citrus notes. Almost no pine or bitterness is discernible. Mostly just sweet toffee, caramel, and tons of bread.
M: Medium and medium on the body and carbonation.
O: No thanks. Not again.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Lubiere (6988) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 28, 2011
An amber IPA witha thin off white head. In aroma, pleasant floral hops with orange pulp, caramel, nice. In mouth, a nice nutty malt with good pinhey hops, resinous, medium bodied, nice. Bottle at OBF Fringe Fest Belmont Station, July 30 2011.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Nena (963) - Seattle, Washington, USA - AUG 10, 2011
Coppery amber, off-white head of dense bubbles. Great aroma, citrus, floral, quite fresh and bright. Maltier than I expected upon sipping, toffee and grainy bread. The hops still make a great showing, though. Nice sweet citrus with a zesty bitter finish, plus pine resin. I like this more than I like most malty IPAs.
