The Fire Station 5 beers are brewed by Portland Brewing exclusively for the Fred Meyer grocery store chain. A well-hopped, deep golden ale with a malty, full-bodied taste and refreshing finish. Sip and reflect on long journeys to exotic lands.

UPDATED: MAY 19, 2009 22oz bottle. Pine, citrus, floral hop aroma. Clear golden amber with a fluffy off white head, highly carbonated. Mostly bitter flavor with a slightly sweet backbone. Slick soapy mouth feel with an abrupt finish. The hops are a little harsh in this one and not balanced to well. A good beer if the price is right.

$5.99 on sale at Fry’s....didn’t bother with a glass pour...crisp nondeScript flavor. It’s definitely a "watered down" attempt at an IPA for the masses....Also, easy drinking for the budget minded...might try again...

Pours a slightly hazy light copper color with a decent sized off white head. Aroma is of citrusy, slightly piney hops. Taste is not so up front citrusy, but with a slight bitter citrus finish. Not bad but not great.

Very clear golden, short lasting fluffy white head, clean citrus hoppy aroma. I wanted to disagree with the two previous ratings and not be influenced by them, but I have to agree. Thin and watery. It has the basic character of an IPA but is lacking any real body. Finishes a bit soapy.

Very nicely composed IPA that is just too thin and watery. Decent caramel malt character with a decent floral hop profile with some nice citrus and hop oil character - just so little of it. Almost as if you made a decent IPA then just diluted it with tap water.

22 oz. bottle. Modest Pine and Hop aroma. Poured a dark golden with a small white head. Tastes like a lower end IPA and had a disturbing carbonation finish which bit annoyingly.

On the weak side for an IPA. Started out promising getting a whiff out of the bottle. Very nice head and lacing. Flavor is actually on the sweet side, but not really bold as is expected with an IPA. Goes down smooth and rounded-out but IPAs are supposed to bite. Actually watery towards the end.

2009 Bottle - Pours lt orange with a small off white head...aroma is nice light pine resin and citrus...flavour is similar...decently balanced hop bitters and sweet malt...a very light IPA, not bad, but not what most folks will expect...

Pours a transparent golden orange with a stringy-lacing wispy white head. Aroma of fresh pine and grapefruity hops with a hint of sweet caramel. Body starts with pretty good fullness and a decent malty sweetness with some resiny bittering and flavor hops before a mild, bittersweet finish. A pretty smooth and drinkable IPA.

not a bad ipa. had a great smell, which was much more thick and rich than the taste. could have been more complex
