Tap at Rose and Crown. Pours with an copper to brown color. Very sweet, but not cloying. Nice Belgian yeast notes, a bit bready and a bit fruity.

Many thanks to Stodbrew for sending this my way! Poured a clear, deep reddish-amber with a short, creamy cap of beige head. The aroma picked up dusty, heavier bread upfront, with lemon rind, some coriander, and dry chocolate surrounding.. just slightly sour, and the yeast reminded me of Unibroue. The flavor had sweet bready malts and dark fruit supporting a hefty array of spices (coriander and cardamom, as mentioned below).. sweet, spicy, and a bit yeasty on the lightly warm finish. Medium-bodied with higher carbonation.. very spicy as well. Well-balanced and tasty!

UPDATED: NOV 17, 2007 Bonus point for serving in proper glassware (trappist glass). Minus point for serving at ice cold temp. Pours dark brown with a thin head. Classic yeasty aroma with caramel and hints of chocolate. Also some spices that remind me of coriander and cardamom. Flavor is sweet but not heavy. No bitterness. Flavor is a bit milder than I would like so I let it warm up a bit. This brings out the alcohol a bit more and a little malt, but doesn’t do much to improve things. Body a little on the thin side. Still not a bad beer.
