COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This light brown ale is brewed with a small amount of chocolate malt which gives the ale its rich dark color. Mount Hood and Willamette hops provide aroma and bitterness.

Growler poured a clear reddish brown with a lingering ring of tan foam. Aromas of carmel, cocoa and light toasted malt. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a dry finish. Flavors of cocoa, carmel and chalkiness with a crisp dry finish.

on tap-pours brown with red tint and a light tan head. Aroma is roasty medium malt-caramel. Taste is roasty medium malt-caramel/peat, some earthy hops.

Easily the best of the Firehouse brews. Still, it doesn’t merit repeat trips when I’m in SD.

On tap at the brewery in Rapid City. Best beer I had at the Firehouse. Medium brown appearance with almost no head. Malty and smoky aroma. Nice roasted malt and nutty taste. Smooth mouthfeel. Satisfying if not the most exciting - sort of like South Dakota (hey, at least it’s not Iowa).

If you are at the firehouse this is the beer to get. Nice dark brown appearance with no head.

Dark brown, no head, smooth with a clean aftertaste. I could really taste the hops. Definitely THE best beer at this brewery. This will be the only beer I try if I go in there again.

Dark red with a smoky nose. Highly nut-bittered and hearty. Good American brown ale and the best at this SD brewpub.

Has a dark brown color and a roasted malt/chocolate. Taste is of chocolate malt and finishes with a good crisp bitterness. Overall I am not a big fan of brown ales, but this one was not bad.
