Poured from the bomber into a shaker. Color is dark amber with tan head. Aroma is citrusy hops (grapefruit) with a little spicy pepperiness presumably from the rye. Flavor starts with some caramel malt and breadiness and quickly transitions into spruce and citrus hop notes that are intermingled with a good dose of spice from the rye that lasts through the finish. Medium bodied with a slightly astringent mouthfeel and a long finish. Overall the rye really makes this a nice IPA.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 ngeunit1 (823) - Mountain View, California, USA - APR 19, 2012
A - Served a clear copper-orange color with a finger of frothy with head atop. Fades fairly slowly leaving behind quite a bit of lace.
S - Aroma is full of citrus and pine hips with some nice rye alongside. There is a touch of caramel malts in the background as well.
T - Starts off with some pine and grapefruit hops with some nice bitterness and some spiciness from the rye. Through the middle a bit more bitterness comes through with a bit more sweet caramel malt. Finish is a mix of rye and grapefruit hops with a bit of earthy hops as well that linger.
M - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Smooth with a nice dry and lightly spicy finish.
D - Very drinkable. The rye works really nicely alongside the hops. Really nice balance.

Poured from bomber, cloudy copper gold with decent sized off white head. Nose was citrus, pine, with the rye being very subtle. Taste was very nicely balanced between the sweet and the bitter considering the IBU’s on the label. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Overall a very good beer.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 GAManiac (1906) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - OCT 30, 2011
22oz bomber from a generous Cali BA.
This is a really gorgeous pour with a clear amber body and a really creamy white head that leaves delicate lacing on the side and shows absurd retention. The head refuses to go away.
Aroma is light citrus with some lemongrass and orange zest. There is also a hint of the spicy rye and some white grapefruit.
Taste is even better with the citrus coming through even stronger, with the grapefruit featuring up front with some floral pine as well. The rye is more prevalent in the finish where there is a spiciness which compliments the sticks hops nicely.
The mouthfeel is very creamy with the rye smoothing out the bitterness a bit.
I’m definitely impressed by this one which is one of the better IPAs I’ve had recently. Love the combination of juicy citrus and spicy rye.

(22oz bottle from BevMo! in San Diego). Pours a clear copper color with a creamy light tan head. Aroma has some juicy, citrusy hops, spice, resin. Taste is semi-sweet with some spice from the rye and a sharp, but pleasing bitterness. Full bodied with a creamy texture. Bitter and dry finish. Nice IPA here.

(22oz bomber thanks to Exiled) copper color with creamy tan head. Nose of funky rye, fresh orange. Taste of orange, almost bright citrus, creamy, and rye. Really fresh and candied citrus tastes. Delicious linger. An awesome IPA. coming from a non-hophead.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 hayduke (2533) - Eureka, California, USA - SEP 21, 2011
No commercial description so the ingredients are a mystery. Pours amber with a very robust beige head and lots of lacing. Nose is very resin and citrus, on top of clean malts. Medium body and smooth mouthfeel. The flavor is complex with some rye, and moderate bitterness, but excellent flavor. Long bitter finish. Overall an excellent beer.
