joeneugs (3107) - Livermore, California, USA - DEC 14, 2010
On tap at Beer Revolution. It pours dark amber orange with an orangy head. The aroma is very sweet and candy like with lots of caramel and toffee. The flavor is pretty much the same with lots of sweet buttery caramel. Nice full mouthfeel and a good bitter finish to balance it out slightly. The alcohol is felt as strong on this one. A little sweet for my taste, but very quaffable.

Bottle 650ml.
Clear medium to dark red brown color with a average, fizzy, virtually none lacing, fully diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, caramel, chocolate, licorice, peat, soy sauce notes. Flavor is heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration. Body is medium to full, texture is creamy, carbonation is soft. [20090724]

Bottle 65 cl. Courtesy of KrausenJockey. Clear reddish brown with a rough beige head. Aroma of nuts and overripe fruit. Quite full-bodied, nuts and overripe fruit. Some hop bitterness in the finish but the warming alcohol dominates. 240709

Bottled. A deep red beer with a thin off-white head. The aroma is sweet with notes of malt and berries. The flavor is sweet with notes of roasted malt and berries, the roasted malt lends it a slight acidic edge. Thanks Steve.

Pours deep amber brown with a thin but lasting head. Aroma is big and reeks of juicy citrus and sweet malt. Flavor is just as bold and nicely balanced. Full bodied and sweet fades into a nice smooth bitterness. Another round please!

First off, not what I would consider a barleywine, almost more of a triple IPA. There are a ton of hops in this. But man, it is some good stuff. Very drinkable, teh hop balance is very nice. Nice bit of alc that is warming. I had 4 glasses and was feeling really good afterwords.
