COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This smooth, rich dark southern German dobblebock is made with Perle and Hallertau hops and a combination of 8 varieties of malts. The Brewnette is our newest beer and has quickly become a Fireman’s Brew favorite! At 10.8%, the Brewnette is powerful, but VERY easy to drink. This beer is not for the timid.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass on May 31, 2012. Minimal head, well less than a finger. Color was maroon black, reminded me of grape cough syrup. Caramel tan lacing that went away fairly quickly. Lots of different smells that didn’t initially match up that well. Got caramel and toffee notes, then dark chocolate. Also some coffee malts in there as well Tasted a bit better than the smell, at least more balanced. Got roasted toffee malts up front, followed by dark chocolate and coffee. Got a weird aftertaste that was a bit like cough syrup. Full-to-medium body. Thinner texture. Average carbonation. Smooth finish. A decent beer. I’d give it another try, along with some of their other beers.

Bottle from Ralphs. Roasted nose. Good deal of malt and coffee. Slight sweetness up front. Good roasty flavors. Pretty tasty. I was a bit worried about this beer being overly sweet. That isn’t the case. Solid Dopplebock.

12 oz. bottle. Dark brown with a nice lighter tan head that leaves stringy lacing. A rich malty cocoa nose. From the first sip this one is less than hoped for. It is one of those beers where i like everything tasted but they work against each other rather than compliment. Cocoa, mixed fruit, and an unfortunate mix of hops. Although this is a European style, the addition of west coast US hops would have been welcomed. The finish brought out more of the malt and especially the chocolate and that was nice.

A 12oz bottle from Pick’s Liquors poured into a Shaker. Pours a dark brown, almost black. Small amount of frothy off-white head that leaves nice lacing. Aroma strongly of coffee malt. Something else is there too, maybe a slight hop aroma. Taste is medium bitter and lightly sweet. Definite coffee tastes and something a little sweet but I can’t quite place it. It’s medium bodied with a creamy texture. Lively carbonation adds to its long bitter finish. Overall, this beer is awesome. It’s a great dark beer and even though its about 90 degrees outside, I plan to go on out and enjoy this one in the sunshine. The fact that they donate part of their profits to help fire departments definitely gives them some brown nose points in my book too. I’ll definitely be buying this one again!

Pour is a dark brown with a small white head. Aroma is is sweet malt with some caramel. Flavor is again sweet malt with a strong coffee. This is a dopple? Finish has some more coffee and a bit of dark fruit. This was weird and not what i was expecting this to be. Alcohol is well hidden.

Smokey and rich caramel aroma. Dark black in color. I would have to say the taste is pretty good for a $7.99 price point on a 6-pack. Long notes of smokey wood and malt leaves this beer a great pairing for a tasty pizza. Overall, this is the first tasting I did of the Firemans Brew but so far I like it, especially at the 8.5% alcohol, hehe.

Contract brewed for Firemans Brew. Sampled on 7/25/2010. This dopplebock pours a deep black brown color from a 12oz bottle. Small to medium sized quickly dissipating white foamy head. The aroma is caramel, fruity, chocolate and a touch of tobacco. A medium bodied dopplebock. The malts are caramel and semi sweet. Hints of chocolate and tobacco as well. The hops are earthy. Decent carbonation. One would expect a dopplebock to be a touch sweeter. Touch of alcohol at the finish. Hides the alcohol very well. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and a little dry. Aftertaste is slightly bitter with a hint of alcohol.
