12oz bottle. Deep brown-black body. Not much of a head...nothing after a minute or two. Very smooth. It kind of has that thin bodied character that makes me think extract, Pretty decent really, just has a neutered, lifeless quality to it that I don’t enjoy. I’m admittedly pretty biased against MBC. Sugary. OK flavor..but I’d never buy it again because it is really just alcoholic sugar water.

Bottle. Dark brown, slightly reddish, with an off white head. Brown sugar, dark malt, caramel, light roast, and sugary. Not bad, but to sweet for my liking.

Bottle 355ml (ABM, BBE 11/2014)
Dark ruby brown color, tiny brownish head. Molasses and rye bread in the nose. Medium-bodied. Sweetish with milky notes, rye bread and maltyness. Odd as a doppelbock. More like Baltic type porter.

Bottle from Binny’s. Very dark mahogany pour with a small foamy tan head. Toasted malt, bread, bittersweet chocolate, maybe a hint of licorice. Medium to lighter on the carbonation. Medium palate. Not bad.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating. Pours nearly opaque dark brown color with a 1-2 finger dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a light amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of caramel, toast, toffee, milk chocolate, cocoa, dark bread, brown sugar, raisin, plum, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt and yeast ester notes; with decent strength. Taste of caramel, toffee, toast, milk chocolate, cocoa, dark bread, brown sugar, raisin, plum, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Minimal herbal/roast bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toast, milk chocolate, cocoa, dark bread, brown sugar, and herbal/yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice complexity, balance, and robustness of dark/roast/bready malt and moderate yeast ester flavors; with zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a smooth and fairly creamy/bready mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a nice doppelbock. Good complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and moderate yeast ester flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the ABV. A bit too dark/roasty for the style, but nicely enjoyable otherwise.

Pretty much opaque dark brown beer, small pale tan head. Smooth and semi dry palate, light fine carbonation. Mild dark malts. Little fruity rang, almost coca cola. Pinch of cocoa powder. Whispers of roast and coffee. Light semi dry finish. A tidy and flavoursome brown.

12 oz bottle. 1424034142214. From alesbymail.co.uk.
Dark reddish brown colour with a small tan head. Dark fruits, roasted malt, mild bitterness and some dryness in the aroma. Not bad actually. German Doppelbock with some dry roasty notes. The flavour is sweetness, dark fruits, mild coffee, dry malt and some hoppy bitterness. It’s a like mix of Doppelbock and strong Stout. Not bad at all. Strong and quite smooth. After the mediocre Lager and drinkable Red Ale this is really nice surprise from Firemans Brew.

355ml bottle. Dark brown/blackish pour. Big sweetness and fruits, not refined enough for a doppelbock.
