COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A smooth, rich red ale without the bite (5.5% alcohol). This 3-time gold medal winner is a combination of 5 different styles of malts, and several different Yakima Valley hops. The use of ""crystal malt"" in the brewing process imparts a rich caramel flavor. This combination creates a flavor packed red ale like you’ve never had before!

Amber is not one of my favorite styles and this one comes up short on convincing me too. Pours a dark orange with minimal aroma, the taste is thin with only a bit of malt flavor to work with. I would pick the blonde over this red.

Wood and root beer aromas follow directly into the taste (especially the root beer). Clear medium amber with an off-white head. A light dark caramel sweetness balances the dry woody character well along with a little creaminess in the body which is a bit thin overall. The root beer component (which is not bad) shows up again at the end with some lasting sweetness. A decent red ale, this would be a good pizza beer.

Samples provided for review. Malty smell when open, with a little Scotch malt in the bargain. Light brown body puts out a nice fluffy head. Crystal and caramel malts can easily be picked up. ops have a bit of grassiness at the IBU delivery system, but there’s also some pine resin in the edge. I catch a little peat from the malts, some dried fig and just a note of milk chocolate. Finishes with a lingering bit of bitterness.

Bottle @ home, picked up at Wilbur’s Foco. Pours a clear, deep red appearance with a light brown head. A touch fruity, burnt caramel malty, somewhat herbal/piney hoppy, slightly spicy, albeit uninspired aroma. Metallic, burnt malty, bitter herbal hoppy, tangy flavor. Too much metal.

Bottle. Head is initially small, frothy, off-white, mostly diminishing. Body is dark amber. Aroma is moderately malty (caramel, toasted grain, malt syrup), lightly hoppy (apricot), with a note of vegetables (yellow squash, etc.). Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery/syrupy texture, lively carbonation. A syrupy, raw, vegetal, clumsy affair. Sad.

Pours a clear amber color with an off-white head. Caramel and toffee malts with a lot of toast and bread on the nose. Creamy sweetness, minimal hop profile, just a bit of a floral note. The flavor is a touch watery, but decently sweet and malty. Some toffee, caramel, and toasted bread. A hint of metal on the finish. A bit of grass, too. Surprisingly decent.

Pour is a dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is some caramel malt but also a weird vinegar sourness. Flavor is better with some chocolate malts and a bit of cherry let on the tounge.

From a 12oz bottle from Pick’s Liquors poured into a Shaker. Off white head. Very thick and takes a long time to dissipate leaving a little lacing. Color is a dark amber or light brown. Aroma is very malty. Bready with some cereal grains. Also a slight floral hop smell. Taste is medium bitter and lightly sour. Definite caramel tastes and a slight hop tastes. Medium bodied with a very slick texture. Lively and very fizzy carbonation with a long slightly sweet finish. Overall, it’s a pretty damn good beer. Especially for the price, and the fact that they donate some proceeds to charity give them some brown nose points in my book. I’ll definitely be buying this one again!
