Bottle at the chriso Snow Tasting, London - many thanks to Jan for pulling this one from the vault. Pours clearish brown with a light, frothy tan cap. Lightly oxidised malts in the nose, brown sugar, rich dark bread. Medium to big sweet flavor with dark, myriad sugars, cake and bread, dark and overripe fruits. Full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Warming finish with more rich, dark sugars, brown sugar, heavy bread, dark berries. Very tasty stuff and has held up nicely.

Syruppy sweet aroma and taste. There’s some mintiness to the aroma too, and it presses my hedonism button. I wouldn’t normally like a sugar-bomb like this, but they just about got away with it.

Bottle. rare opportunity at STL bbbb, thanks for the pour!. Color is clear brown with a small off-white head. Aroma is caramel malt and clear oxidation with a little brown sugar. Flavor is also loaded with oxidation and a light amount of caramel malt and faint fruits. This is way past prime but still glad to have tried it!

Bottle at ChrisO Snow Tasting, thanks to Jan. It pours deep brown with a small bubbly off-white head. The nose is caramel, wood, bourbon, vanilla, toasted coconut and fudge. The taste is roasted malt, wood, caramel, coffee grinds, light astringency, leather, dark fruit, milk chocolate, fudge, bourbon and some alcohol warmth with a dry, oaky finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Smooth and mellow. A bit oxidised perhaps, but enjoyable nonetheless.

Bottle at Chriso’s snow tasting 20/01/2013. Thanks fonefan. Bready boozy, liquorice aromas. Some brown muscavado sugar and some solvent. Dark brown small tan head. Falvour is sticky sweet molasis toffee. A very nice treat, but a little to sweet and boozy.

Bottle at Chriso Snow Tasting, thanks to Jan, 20/01/13. Very dark mahogony brown, hazed, thin tan head clears to bubbles at the edge. Nose carries sugars, toffee, hint of coconut, booze. Taste comprises dark sugars, dark toffee, dark malts, moderate booze kick, light chocolate. Full bodied with soft carbonation, smooth on the palate, a little booze in the finish. Fair complex and well balanced, the alcohol is well hidden.

Bottle shared by Thorpe429. Thanks Mike! Firestone Walker tasting, including FW 10-14, Abacus, Parabola, Walker’s Reserve, Black Xantus. Order of preference and notes: 13, 12, 11, 14, 10 Abacus and Parabola still shined. Along with FW 13, these were my three favorites of the lineup, with FW 12 not far behind. FW 10 appears remarkably similar to the other FW anniversary ales, dark brown with a thin cap. The carbonation seems to have dropped off just a bit in the years since its release. The aroma still brings a fair amount of booze, with some toffee and roast notes as well. The flavor was lacking the balance, depth, and complexity I found so wonderful and present in FW 12 and 13. A surprising amount of heat throughout the flavor profile detracted from the overall presentation of the beer. The finish brought an unpleasant harshness to the back of my throat. Some good flavors still lurk here, but are overshadowed by the heat. Overall, the weakest of the anniversary series by a long shot. It was a treat to have tried this, and I am very grateful for the opportunity. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 05-27-2011

Shared by Daknole at a recent tasting with the entire vertical. Brown pour with a tan head. This is still holding up pretty well. Aroma of chocolate and caramel malts with a little booze, taste adds some citrus and toffee, overall pretty damn good.
