4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 OleR (4247) - Oslo, NORWAY - MAY 13, 2013
0.65 L bottle kindly shared by GrOve. Low latte head. Hazy mahogny colored body. Intense caramel aroma, gently sweet and light peppery. Some mild roast tones and faint chocolate and licorice. Loads of fruity hops to balance. Chocolate-accented malt flavor. Well roasted with notes of burnt sugar and vanilla. Clean bitterness, just enough to deal with the big malt body. Pleasently warming alcohol. Dries up towards a rich malty, lingering bitter finish. Oh yes.

Bottle, shared with the table at Aces & Ales. Thick near black pour. Luscious aroma, sweet and rich, chocolate, toasted marshmallow, vanilla. Densely flavoured, with a beguiling alchemy occurring between the bourbon and the chocolate, really fantastic, dark cherry, light pipe tobacco. My God these anniversary blends are just outstanding!

Mild, slightly hot mouthfeel. Dryish oily vanilla fudge and spicy roasty aftertaste with alcohol and pepper notes. Interesting and unusual. (0.65l bottle shared by gr0ve.)

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 joeneugs (2144) - Livermore, California, USA - APR 13, 2013
I had this at the release over 2 years ago, but didn’t rate it. I recently stumbled upon a bottle at a bar in SF that has been cellared for all that time. Score! Only $14 for the bottle too… double score! It pours very dark brown with a tan head. The aroma is strong with bourbon, caramel, cocoa and vanilla. The flavor is very sweet with caramel, vanilla, bourbon and strong alcohol, but not unpleasantly strong. Smooth and well integrated barrel character. The age has done this one very well. Classic!

Pours dark brown with a thin tan head. Aroma has light roasty notes, dark fruits, light cocoa, and mild boozy notes. Flavor is roasty dark chocolate, cocoa, mild oak, and faint dark fruits and burnt brown sugar. Mouthfeel is medium and the finish is roasty and very warming.
4.7 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 DocJitsu (307) - California, USA - MAR 30, 2013
Pours a very dark brown with a taupe/tan head that attenuates quickly. The aroma is so pleasing with alternating toffee, bourbon, vanilla, and coconut. The aroma leaves little to be anticipated in the taste. So complex, yet the flavors seem to express themselves individually from start to finish. The creamy mouthfeel completes this phenomenal beer. It’s a milder, more drinkable sibling to Abacus and Parabola.
