4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Served from a 22 oz bottle from OTM. The appearance is a deep mahogany brown hue with a nice soapy light brown head. The nose is full of brown sugary, light molasses, dark chocolate, nice oak notes, aged hops, butterscotch, all sorts of fantastic stuff. The flavors enter with tones of butterscotch and caramel, aged hops take the middle with some tangerine and grapefruits. Butterscotch and caramelized light molasses follow on the finish with a bittering oak ting in the aftertaste. There is a little kumquat and grapefruit over caramel and butterscotch for a while but that bitterness fades some. Lot’s of barrel characteristics with the Brandy and raw/Union Barrels being the must inflectional at this point. The mouth is a little bitter at times and a little stingy from oak and could use some melding and smoothness. The body of the Parabola just doesn’t come through as much as I expected. Lot’s of barrel characteristics. Overall I think this year should of been enjoyed a little fresher even though there is still a ton to offer. Great beer and I love this anniversary line. I wish the price was $8-$10 cheaper but I will still buy them until they really disappoint.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Great beer, large sample pour of darkness with almost no head but a slight halo. Aroma is dark, dark chocolate, some toast, plenty I caramel and some graham crackers and toasted marshmallows... Kinda like s’mores. Flavor is similar with plenty of chocolate and caramel but lighter than a stout, some fruit notes, like figs, but light also. Smooth malted caramel and more marshmallow. I dig it for sure

Big sweet flavor, lots of rich bread, fruitcake, cocoa, some roast and light charred wood. Full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Warming finish with lots of dark, dried fruits, figs and dates, more fruitcake, rich bread, some burnt wood and earth. Great stuff. Pretty deep.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle thanks to Dmac! Pours deep black with a ruby tint, small tan head that dissipates slowly to a ring leaving nice lacing. Aroma is heavy malts, bourbon, vanilla and dark chocolates. Flavor is sweet, medium bitter, and hot. Tons of maltiness, toffee, molasses, bourbon, vanilla. Medium plus, creamy body. Hot finish. Heat distracts from what is otherwise a nice beer, with just a hint of oxidation after all this time.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
"man, i’m glad FW started their barrel program. i’ve only had the last two, but the sheer depth of the 13, and now the 14, is just amazing. a blend of about a half dozen barreled beers, bourbon takes front and center, but does not dominate. there’s also brandy, and these over bases of barelywine, double pales, and big stouts, expertly blended. add oak, a touch of Mexican coffee, hops...you get one damn good beer. not quite as good imho as the 13 for two reasons. 1-13 was fanfreakintastic! 2-this one, while smooth, was a little boozier. we had it fresh, but we had the 13 fresh too. anyway, awesome beer that may be too damn expensive to get again. 2012-this beer is holding up soooo well against newer releases I gotta up it to 4.5."

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
August 26, 2014 - bottle from Eric to celebrate my 14th anniversary. Black pour with limited head that faded quickly. Aroma was bourbon, chocolate, toffee, dark fruit and some spice. Taste was consistent with the aroma, reminded me of Goose’s Bourbon Barley Wine but with a touch of cinnamon in the finish.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
5 year vertical! Dark brown pour, aroma toffee, burnt sugar, English malts, very reminiscent of an English barley wine. Taste is syrupy sweetness, toffee, a bit of anise, somewhat sherry like. Really solid.
