COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
American Wild Red Ale

This liberation begins its journey as DBA then continues through a “chrysalis” process involving 87% French and 13% American Oak barrels, and our proprietary collection of micro flora. To blend, we selected beer matured eight to 24 months in barrels, creating a synergistic beer. Immediately, toasted oak and lemon pith swirl on the nose and palate, followed by an amazing harmony of vanilla, coconut, Earl Grey tea and spice. The finish is crisp, with mouth-watering acidity and chewy tannins. Since we age, blend and bottle these beers once a year, there will be slight variation with each release. A santé!

Appearance: Pours an amber brown with a white ring of head.

Aroma: Sweet tart candy, bready malt, grandmas house.

Taste: Bready malt ,tartness. Vinegar.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied modest bubbles.

Overall: I’m not the biggest DBA fan, this is slightly more interesting, but not one of my favorite sours they’ve been piloting.

Bottle thanks to dogday. Hazy red pour with a small head that fades to a nice thick ring. Aromas are strong oak, mint, sour berries, and light barnyard. Taste has a bunch of wood like the aroma. Lemon and vanilla too with hints of red wine, sour red fruit, mint, and leather. Good stuff but not as good as the other barrelworks stuff.

draft, another home run by firestone walker, one of the best sour browns ive had. Great tartness, round, chewy caramel and nutty molasses. Awesome shit!

Tap at Toronado Seattle.

My second favorite of the night to the mighty BFM Abbeye ’13. Lovely american sour red with a ton going on, rich barrel character but it’s just that, barrel character, not barrel-additive where the oak comes on like flavor in flavored coffee. Firestone Walker continues to impress as one of America’s best breweries.

Bottle froe craft, sampled with SJ. Notes of brown sugar, clove, wood, cheery, lemon and funk. Blend was decent, finishing coconut and lemon. Interersting.

375ml bottle shared by John. Poured a hazy reddish amber color with a small foamy off white head. Aroma of slight funk, sour fruit, and caramel malt. Taste mimics the nose with lots of sour citrus, and some oakiness.

Bottle... Pours hazy and amber with a small, creamy white head. The aroma is funky, acidic, bready and stupid fruity, boasting a ton of sour, citric fruitiness. Medium-bodied with pillow-soft carbonation. The flavor is tart, fruity and yeasty. Notes of cracker malt and toffee. Finishes tangy and bready. Bottle courtesy of 50belair!
