COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
American Wild Red Ale

This liberation begins its journey as DBA then continues through a “chrysalis” process involving 87% French and 13% American Oak barrels, and our proprietary collection of micro flora. To blend, we selected beer matured eight to 24 months in barrels, creating a synergistic beer. Immediately, toasted oak and lemon pith swirl on the nose and palate, followed by an amazing harmony of vanilla, coconut, Earl Grey tea and spice. The finish is crisp, with mouth-watering acidity and chewy tannins. Since we age, blend and bottle these beers once a year, there will be slight variation with each release. A santé!

Appearance: Pours an amber brown with a white ring of head.

Aroma: Sweet tart candy, bready malt, grandmas house.

Taste: Bready malt ,tartness. Vinegar.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied modest bubbles.

Overall: I’m not the biggest DBA fan, this is slightly more interesting, but not one of my favorite sours they’ve been piloting.

Aroma is of tart citrus, some funk, and a hint of dishwater. Taste is initially sour followed by an interesting softness from the wood. Very watery mouthfeel. Not the best sour I have had.

375ml bottle from Firestone Brewery Store. Nose is tart lemon, a hint of funk, a slight cherry note, and the omnipresent oakiness. Hazy amber with a huge beige head that laces heavily. Flavor is lightly tart, spicy, fruity, with just a hint of funk.

Hazy tea, thin filmy white. Earthy rainwater, light burnt brown sugar and buteric. Slick green apple heavy flavor, tons of plastic and buteric in the slick, ultra thin finish, dry and dead instantly.

Tastes of malt and toast, fairly tart but in a muted way, fruits, cherry. The oak comes through and a wine like quality as well. I think there is some tea here, but I get more cherry like flavor. Fairly crisp, fairly clear and light bodied.

Tap at 38 Degrees. Pours a deep copper color with medium head. Excellent aromas of leather, figs, sour cherry, savory spice, spicy oak, and forest floor. The palate is sharp, with complex notes of oak, tamarind, leather, clove, acid, and sauteed red fruits. Very nice, will get even better with age.

>> Low haze amber tea pour. Great white lacin. Nose is muted, fresh lemon. Taste is citric, thinner bodied, mild raspberry tea, refreshing. As it warms, the nose brings oak, earth, a Flemish red vinous character, baked pie, subtle, subdued. Very nice as it warms. In taste, no acetic, on the verge of too much lemon, mild spicy oak, Flemish red notes of red berry and wine. Still, quite drinkable and soft rather than lacerating. Loving it. Drinkable, could kill an entire 375.

Sample at GABF 10/04/2014, thanks to my BIL for assistance with note-taking. Hazy copper color with a medium creamy off-white head that diminishes steadily. Partial ring of lacing. Aroma of tart fruit, yeast and malt. Medium-bodied with flavors of tart cherries, vinous oak, yeast and caramel malt. The finish is dry with a funky cherry aftertaste. Solid beer all around.
