magine yourself in Berlin’s Tiergarten enjoying this refreshing Berliner Weisse inspired beer on a warm summer’s day. Bretta Weisse honors the traditional beverage of the great Prussian capital, Berlin. Fredrick-the-Great was trained to brew it, and Napoleon’s troops called it “The champagne of the North”. Firm estery notes of stone and tropical fruit lead to Funky, yeasty, citrus aromas. Soft cereal and Oak flavors are enveloped by a firm acidity and tartness. The finish is dry and crisp; a thoroughly enjoyable beverage. At 4.9% ABV, one could imagine enjoying several Bretta Weisse’s in the Tiergarten, or anywhere else. This Berliner Weisse inspired Wheat beer was aged in 1700 gal French Oak horizontal foeders for 8 months.

Bottle (500 ml). From Marcus, thanks! Hazy golden with a small bubbly white head and little lacing. Aroma is soft and lactic with a nice acidity and lemony notes. Taste is also soft (a little less than aroma) with cheesy pesence, nice acidity, lemony notes and fruity/floral notes. Light body. Soft carbonation. Moderately dry finish. Short lasting yogurt aftertaste. Good light sour. Quite tasty despite being soft and low abv. Super quaffable.

Exactly what a Berliner Weise should be. Tart, refreshing, funky. Acidity meshed well with the funk brought on by the brett. Could drink alot of this on a nice hot summer day.

Bottle thanks to Ontape ! Pours a hazy yellow golden color with a finger of fizzed out foam. Nose is light with hints of lemon yogurt, some rustic wheat and a touch of musty basement funk. The palate follows the nose with nice balance of rustic wheat, tart lemon, unripe pineapple and some stone wall minerality and basement must lingers. A touch undercarbed but otherwise a really tasty berliner !

loved this 4.9 beer that had all the flavor of beers double that. nuanced peachy lemony aroma and flavor with some wheat in there as well. Smooth and refreshing, yet very flavorful and complex. Just what I hoped it would be.
