magine yourself in Berlin’s Tiergarten enjoying this refreshing Berliner Weisse inspired beer on a warm summer’s day. Bretta Weisse honors the traditional beverage of the great Prussian capital, Berlin. Fredrick-the-Great was trained to brew it, and Napoleon’s troops called it “The champagne of the North”. Firm estery notes of stone and tropical fruit lead to Funky, yeasty, citrus aromas. Soft cereal and Oak flavors are enveloped by a firm acidity and tartness. The finish is dry and crisp; a thoroughly enjoyable beverage. At 4.9% ABV, one could imagine enjoying several Bretta Weisse’s in the Tiergarten, or anywhere else. This Berliner Weisse inspired Wheat beer was aged in 1700 gal French Oak horizontal foeders for 8 months.

Bottle: Cloudy, bright sunshine yellow body with a quickly fleeting white head that is completely gone in a few seconds. Aroma of sour lemon, tart lacto yeast, musty hay, vanilla yogurt, stone fruit, a nice waft of sweaty jockstrap funk, & some old pineapple. Bright flavor; tons of zesty lemon, stone fruit, citrus, & pineapple. Less funk on the palate, but some modest hay & must notes are hidden in the periphery. Nice graininess & sour wheat note with a small touch of lacto & wood leading into a super dry finish. Light bodied, high carbonation that fits the style. Goddamn solid Berliner.

Bottle... Hazy straw-colored pour with a small, quickly dissipating, white head. The nose is a citrusy blend of key lime and lemon meringue accompanied by subtle breadiness. Light to medium-bodied with jazzy carbonation. The flavor is so very sour and citric with a crisp, tart, snappy finish. Pulls up just shy of being world class. On draft at Tap 25. It pours a deep golden orange color with an off white head. The aroma is nice with some lactic peaches. Very bright and pleasantly acidic with a little funk. The flavor is lactic and lemony with some peaches and a touch of white vinegar. Touches of oak add complexity that makes this more of a "sour’ rather than a Berliner IMO. Very tasty.
