This multi award winning West Coast brewer specialises in brewing American pale ales using its patented Firestone union oak barrel fermentation system. This West Coast-style pale ale is characterised by the use of American-grown hops, with their herbal, citrus-like aroma and flavour. Cask, The Last Plantagenet, Leicester. Amber golden brown with a small head. Aromas are caramel malts with woody, spicy notes. Sweet grapefruit with hops spices. Flavours are biscuit malts with cream. Bitter grapefruit with yeast and very clean hops. Dry on the finish. Woody on the aftertaste with hints of salt. Likeable.

Bottle. Strong hops, bitterness, pine on the nose. Pours golden in color, not cloudy at all, white head that disapates quickly. Flavor isn’t as strong as the nose suggests, moderate palate. Easy drinking pale.

Bottle from Galeria Kaufhof, Berlin. Slightly hazy golden body, small white head. Nose is syrupy caramel malts, peaches, strawberry and hints of vanilla. Very fruity, and little hops to be found. Strange for an APA. Taste is mild caramel tones, grass, kiwi, peaches, hints of citrus. Very fruity and equally drinkable. Light, refreshing palate. A great summer beer for sure! Maybe a bit more hop bite would be good, but...wait...it’s a Golden Ale/Blonde Ale? Talk about misleading title, then... :-P In either case, this beer is very good. :-)

Pint at Sweet Lou’s. Don’t let the low overall percentile fool you. This is a good beer that is simply not of a well-appreciated style. The flavors are subtle and light and balanced with enough of a hop aroma to rise above just "meh".

Clear orange light ale from bottle. Aroma fruits, berries, some nuts. Nice foamy head. balanced medium body with crispy carbonation. Medium bitterness. Nice pale ale. Not too hoppy gives a fruity aftertaste could be more fuller and more hoppy.

Pours golden yellow with white head. Aroma is citrous grapefruity hops. Taste is a first hit of the grapefruit citrous hop bite characteristic of American pale ales and then a nice bit of malt sweetness. Really nice balance and has the body of a lighter ale or a lager. Surprisingly un-aggressive for a pale ale.

Cask @ Pommeller’s Rest, JDW. Bermondsey SE1. Pours a slightly hazy dark golden color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity malty aroma with some hoppy hints. Fruity malty citrus hoppy flavor. Has a sweetish fruity malty hoppy finish with some hints of citrus in the aftertaste.

Oct, 2008 JDW, Gravesend Caramel - warm fudge - and diacetyl. Pleasure and pain. The edge of both. Soft citric hops - flavoursome, but not aggressive. Some little nips. A delicious little ale.

2008-11-17, Cask Conditioned at J.D. Wetherspoon - Shakespear’s Head, London, 7-3-7-3-14=34
Hazy light amber color. Nice hop aroma, midway between Europe and America. It has some caramel flavor, quite sweet, with a nice sweet fruitness from the hop, and not the typical aggressivity or hop resins; red apples come to mind. Very pleasant.

Hazy golden color; thin head. Light malt aroma, more pronounced malt flavor; I expected some fruitness from a Californian beer, instead the flavor has a very nice milky side. Correct bitterness. Good.
