In the bottle. Pours a dark copper color with a slight white head. Medium carbonation and decent lace. Aroma of berries. Little or no hop aroma. Flavor is slightly grapefruity with a nice hop bite to the top of the tongue. Body is medium to medium light. I get a little too much calcium sulfate tingle at the end. Spices? Nope, not from this beer. I think this might be a beer I’d like to try on tap sometime.

Bottled. Pours a nice copper tinged amber. Small receding tan head. Nose is spicy hops, creamy malts, and an underlying note of toffee. Nice! Taste is pleasant - rich malts, nice hop profile to balance it, more toffee notes and a filling sweetness about it. Body is medium with a decent carbonation feel but otherwise is smooth and somewhat creamy. Finish has a stronger hop bite and more spice from the hops present but still retains the toffee (or is it caramel?) and sweet tones that balance this out. Nice beer!

Very aromatic amber pour. Smell of hops and caramel. Hoppy taste that’s even better from a tap.

Pours nut brown with copper highlights and sediment topped by a tiny tan head. Roasted caramel malt aroma with a fragrant hop nose. Mild hoppy flavor with caramel malt on the end. Fizzy and medium-bodied palate.

Very impressed. Pours clear amber with a two finger tan head in a pint glass. Strong hoppy and slightly sweet aroma. Slighty acidic hoppy flavor with medium-bodied mouthfeel. VERY NICE malty (caramel and licorice?) finish that stays with you a bit. A very nice improvement over several of my latest trials.

Rich amber hue, decent amount of head leaving a trace of lace. Aroma boasts citurs and hops but then after i took a sip i realize its one of those beers. Will deceive you in its appearance and aroma that its good, but will taste like a ordinary english pale ale. Slight hop flavor and bittering, but not enough for my blood. $2 and some change is fair to pay for a pint of this.

Crystal clear copper coloured body with a crimson hue and a nice frothy manilla coloured head-simply stated: the way an epa should look like. Aroma of fresh e.g. hops with a great bitter scent and the smells of sugars such as toffee, caramel and caster sugar. Medium-bodied; Strong assertive hoppiness up front with a mild (underpowering) maltiness. Sweetness comes out in the end, but not in full force. The beer was much better in the nose than the mouth, but it has no bad qualities, just not enough good tastes to make it a stunning epa. Overall, a good beer worth trying, but settle on a true english beer if you want that excellent english pale. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased at Chevy Chase Wine & Liquors in Washington, D.C. on 23-December-2004.
