3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Two fingers of head. Clear, copper colored body.
Smells has a nice dose of caramel and pine. Good.
Taste lets the malt come through nicely. Mildly sweet with just a bit of bitterness. A little citrus.
Texture is smooth, short of creamy. Really nice for a pale ale.
Drinkable and tasty.

Copper amber pour. Medium khaki head. Spicy, earthy, medium citrus hop notes. Bigger malt backbone than I expected. Caramel, and mild toastiness. Earthy hops and citrus. Clean citrusy finish.

This beer was so-so. Grassy hop aroma, lighter to medium body. Moderate in color and light on the flavor. I did taste some of the oak which added a fair amount of complexity. Residual malt sweetness.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draft @ Barking Dog Ale House. Mostly clear ruby color with lasting head. Aroma is light traces of caramel, nuts and fruit esters. I get all malt flavors and no hops. Up front, slight caramel and roasted grain ending with a real light note of wood. Mouthfeel and body is on the thin side with medium carbonation. They did an ok job creating a British ESB but not a brew I will order again.

Had this on tap at a Thai restaurant in San Diego. Pours a deep amber color with a small creamy white head. Aroma is light wet dog and some caramel malts. Not a whole lot going on there. Flavor follows with big time malt kicks, caramel, biscuits, with some definite pine bitter to balance alongside. Mostly highlighting the malts but definitely not a super sweet beer. Slick mouthfeel with medium-to-high carbonation. Overall this was a decent beer, and pretty bold for the style.

Bottle. Pours amber/reddish with a thin white head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is faint throughout, caramel, sweet malt, bread and some hops. Taste is caramel malt, bread and balanced bitter finish. Decent offering but not my favorite beer from FW.

Bottle @ Deans pale lager tasting, courtesy of myself. Pours a clear amber beer with creamy, beige head on top. Aroma is rather hoppy, citric and caramel. Flavor is rather sweet, malty and definitely shows some caramel in there. Medium long aftertaste, quite decent.
