COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A British Pale Ale never tasted so fresh. We challenge our good friends across the pond to match this one. Canít be done. Weíve honored the traditions of the great British Pale brewers of Burton-on-Trent using our patented Firestone Union oak barrels. Youíre left with a mild blend of vanilla and toasted oak flavor touched with an elegant hint of English noble hops. DBA is the flagship of our company and wildly popular

Poured out of the bottle. Thin head, not a lot of carbonation. Flavor is malty with a slight toasted note, touch of bitterness. Itís ok, not that great IMO.

Can - from sampler pack. Copper colored, clear. Very clean aroma. Good relatively hoppy, with a bread-like maltiness. Tastes like a British beer.

Pours copper with light white head. A caramel a sweet malt aroma. A sweet malt, caramel, grain and light roasted malt taste. A sweet malt and dry grain aftertaste.

Bottle. Nose is vanilla, caramel, butterscotch. Taste is caramel, cream, vanilla, butterscotch, light herbal hops, lots of sweet dough and toffee. Mouthfeel is slick. Itís very good for the style and a damning indictment of the mess that is much of UK brewing is that the best bitter Iíve had in years is from across the pond.

From can. Copper pour with small off-white head and good lacing. Aroma of biscuit and caramel and some fruits. Taste is the same, hint of bitterness. Medium full mouthfeel.

This tends to get classified as either a Bitter or an English Pale Ale, but at least thereís general agreement about the British influence. Thatís well-deserved. Pour is a clear amber-copper. While Double Barrel Ale doesnít forsake Firestone Walkerís love of hops, itís certainly a malt-forward beer. DBA offers a nice amount of complexity for an average-strength, medium-bodied brew. Toffee, toasted malt, bread, chocolate, wood, light citrus, fruitiness(tea-like berry), nuttiness, and cream all come together to form a mellow, easy-drinking beer with just a bit of pleasant bitterness.

I didnít like it, nothing really stood out, didnít get much of the oak barrel aromas.

Holdwine (1159) - Beertimore, Maryland, USA - MAY 28, 2016
A bit sweet for a bitter, but a nice, approachable British pale ale. Malt is king, as it should be, although it does start a bit musty before sweetening up.

Clear deep copper brown with a proper head. Toasted toffee, light pine, some oak on aroma. Spicy, oaky, gentle pine, caramel flavors. Medium sweet finish with an almost bubble gum aftertaste.
