3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Deep orange pale ale color under an off-white head. Fresh hop smell, slight green hop, if I’m not mistaken. Malty taste, but with more resiny hop right behind it. Overall hoppiness probably dissuades it from comparison with an English Pale, though trying to pick out the oak from the Burton system is tough with this much hop involved. Very fresh considering it’s dates 12/21/12.

A simple caramel taste, reminded me of root beer. Not much of a finish. Pleasant, but forgettable.

Bottle in Las Vegas. Snifter. Pours a typical looking pilsner but slightly darker. Moderate white head with lacing. Aroma of bread, oak, vanilla, and some grass. Taste similar. Mild oak taste with hint of vanilla and yeasts. Overall pretty good. Light body and medium carbonation.

Clear shiny copper, light head, good lace. Minerally caramel aroma, some breadyness, slight ester. Taste has a more bitter than sweet bittersweet, some grassy hops, mineral, caramel, fizzy, a little bit of tart/sour. Its ok, kinda reminds me of something of Sam Adams a little. Not really a great ESB.

(draft @ J.B. Quimby’s - Rochester, NY) Orange pour with a puffy white head. Light caramel aroma with a light grassy hint. Flavor is mild caramel and biscuit malt and a very light undertone of hops. Not bad but nothing mind blowing.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
This beer was so-so. Grassy hop aroma, lighter to medium body. Moderate in color and light on the flavor. I did taste some of the oak which added a fair amount of complexity. Residual malt sweetness.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draft @ Barking Dog Ale House. Mostly clear ruby color with lasting head. Aroma is light traces of caramel, nuts and fruit esters. I get all malt flavors and no hops. Up front, slight caramel and roasted grain ending with a real light note of wood. Mouthfeel and body is on the thin side with medium carbonation. They did an ok job creating a British ESB but not a brew I will order again.
