COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
DDBA is our flagship beer brewed at double strength. It is amazingly similar in many respects to our barrel fermented DBA and possesses everything we love about that beer times two. English caramel malts lend rich toffee character that pairs well with assertive medium toast American oak barrels.

Had a vertical tasting wit Batchs 001 and 002 (2012 and 2013). Lighter copper brown pour on both, little bit of a tanned head on Batch 002. Lots of sweet toasty bread aromas, hints of toffee. Flavors are very English, sweet tender malts with a miniature hop backbone, banana, sweet bread, and a lot of caramel. Hints of unused (except for the beer) oak barrels come through towards the finish. Would have to say the flavors of the year old bottle had definitely blended rather well, therefore being my pick of the two. Good stuff, but not astonishing for the asking price.

Let's forget about color, foam, etc. What we need to discuss is flavor and this beer has lots of it. Better yet, it is a wonderful flavor. Rich, creamy, smooth with a great background barrel taste. This is wonderful. The 12% does sneak up on you however. I love it. Where do I get more?

Draft. Aroma of richly sweet malts, dried fruit, faint coconut, dark brown sugar, vanilla, toffee, faint alcohol, florals and a touch of citrus (orange). Rather indulgent, to say the least. Deep garnet in color, lightly hazy, with a fine, sparse head and very fine lace. Flavor profile is sweet, fruity, malty, rich, almost candyish at times, with notes of spun sugar, golden raisin, sugared dates, plum, vanilla, warming, medicinal alcohol, and a moderate dosage of spicy bitterness appearing late. Long, lingering, warming finish with touches of bubblegum, toasted caramel and coconut late. Sticky, coating feel on the palate, with low-moderate effervescence, body is exceedingly full. Very complex and satisfying.

draft at Coles, Buffalo NY. Copper orange caramel pour, fuller mouthfeel. Big rich toffee, caramel malts fill aroma, oak hidden under richness. Big rich maltiness, toffee, booziness. Bg mouthfeel, extreml;y rich. Very Impressive

Figure Id try it. Batch 001 pours a dark copper with a sheet of light caramel foam. Smells like Id expect - vanilla, bourbon, cherry, oak, sweet caramel, nougat and some bits of tawny porto. Flavor is sweet and nougaty with some vanilla, oak, alcohol, a little bit of bitterness and toffee. Full bodied with light, fleeting carb. A nice beer, something on the caliber of FW, but not something Im nuts about buying a load of. Serving type: bottle 10-08-2012

2013 bottle into a goblet. Pours deep copper with a slight white head. Assertively sweet aroma with lots of caramel and biscuit. Taste is sticky sweet, toasted malt, biscuit, citrus, oak, vanilla. A little more roast would go a long way with this one.

Clear ruby red dark brown color. Another bottle smuggled back from San Francisco by AtlAggie. Beautiful looking beer. Deep red fruit aroma and flavor. Touch of molasses and lots of toffee. Very well balanced. Nice sipping beer with a good amount of sweetness. Damn these big beers tonight.

22oz bottle - The beer pours out a hazy amberish/dark orange body with reddish hues at the edges, with a tight, creamy 1" head. A really nice aroma full of candy-ish malts, vanilla, brown-sugar, bourbon and wood notes. Loads of dark-fruit, caramel, toffee, and a touch of vanilla in there. A long, boozy, sweet finish with some lingering...I guess thickness? A really nice beer, but quite overpriced.

Bottle from the brewery, at home. Beautiful clear amber to red pour, thin off-white head. Aroma is full of bourbon, leather, caramel and some alcohol. Flavor is sweetish, alcoholic and smooth. Well balanced and very clean. Subtle while still strong. Great brew.
