COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
DDBA is our flagship beer brewed at double strength. It is amazingly similar in many respects to our barrel fermented DBA and possesses everything we love about that beer times two. English caramel malts lend rich toffee character that pairs well with assertive medium toast American oak barrels.

Pours a copper brown with good clarity and a aggressive tight bubble eggshell foam that falls off quickly. Nose is sweet with lots of toffee, butterscotch and vanilla. Palate follows the nose with silky smooth rich sweet notes that fall into a boozy oak heavy finish. A little weird on the lingering finish with traces of medicinal artificial sweetener.

UPDATED: FEB 26, 2016 Update: 2 1/2 years later, same friend pulls a bottle out from aging. Essentially the same taste profile, but the alcohol is completely gone from the taste, though it’s still warming. I need to pick up a few of these next time they’re out and store them away for a 3+ years. Yummy. From 9/27/2013: Got to try this thanks to a beer buddy at work. Aroma is dried fruit and sweet...something and alcohol. Taste is the same, and very sweet, but not cloyingly so. and really easy drinking, but treat it as a sipper. Supposedly it gets better when a bit warmer - 45 degrees or so. Definitely a treat.

22 oz bomber shared by someone at a tasting. The pour is hazed brown copper orange with a smallish tan head. The aroma is the rich, sweet caramel malt, along with earth and vanilla oak barrel. Bit of alcohol peaks through as well. The taste is deep, thick sweet caramel malt along with the vanilla, fruit sweet and woody oak barrel character. Dried fruit and alcohol shows in the long finish. The palate is medium bodied, soft carbonation, and the booze and wood finish. Nice enough.

650 ml bottle from Bevmo. Pours a beautiful translucent roan brown color with a minimal off-white heat that quickly disperses. The aroma features caramel, toffee, nuts and a touch of alcohol. The taste classic malty barley wine with caramel, brown sugar and toffee taking center stage and a nutty bitter hopiness filling in the sides. The palate is full and smooth with lively carbonation. Finishes long and semi-sweet. Overall: Very nice BW, and this is one that should age well.

A clear dark amber Barley Wine with a thin mocha head. In aroma, a nice dark caramel malt with vinous notes, dark fruits, alcohol warmth, very nice. In mouth, a superb sweet malt with pinot de charente character, floral hops, oily mouth, licorice, alcohol warmth, well done. Bottle at Downtown Brew fest LV 2013.

Wow! The barrel aging really shines here. The sweet maltiness hits you first, and the heat from the alcohol takes over. This is a beautifully crafted beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
