Beautiful dark amber color, with red shades, and small head. Nice plain aroma of oak barrel. Good body strength, although the mouthfeel is not heavy; good caramel flavor, semi-sweet, with some toffee, light pleasant nuttiness, correct bitterness, some vanilla/wood presence.
A good one as usual; appealing also to my non-beer-drinking friends.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottled on 6/15/12. Another home run from Firestone Walker. Amber in color. Nice notes of toffee, bourbon whiskey oak, and fruit...seems like cherry to me. Warming but in a subtle way. Wish I had another bottle to see how it would taste 6-8 months from now. Everything you would want in a barley wine aged in oak and bourbon barrels.

Bomber bottle.... Good luck, Sam, and thanks, Dad. Aroma is boozy with some malt. Appearance is a dark bronze with with no head. Taste kinda reminds me if barley wine with more booze. Very well done beer, of course. Palate is ok. Overall, an outstanding beer. Glad i was able to share this with some great peeps.

Bottle. Really pretty deeb brown red clear pour with a light tan head. Aroma is Sweet malt out the wazoo. Caramel, toff, lots and lots of malt. Flavor is similar. Maybe the barest hint of bitterness, but mosty one glorious malt bomb. The finish is a bit boozy, but that’s ok. Really nice beer. I’d like to get a bottle of this to age.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Pours a mostly clear deep caramel and gold color with a thin layer of beige head. The nose is rich and boozy with smooth oak, bourbon and toffee. The taste starts with layers of toasted malts, caramel, dark fruit and burnt sugar. A light touch of citrus hops come in next and are swept away by sweet vanilla and chewy toffee. Notes of dark raisin lurk underneath, meshing nicely with the oak barrel treatment. Finishes boozy and sticky. Warm and inviting with a kiss of hops. This a phenomenal barley wine and the Beerhive is the only place in the state that managed to get some.
