COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
DDBA is our flagship beer brewed at double strength. It is amazingly similar in many respects to our barrel fermented DBA and possesses everything we love about that beer times two. English caramel malts lend rich toffee character that pairs well with assertive medium toast American oak barrels.

Pours clear reddish amber with a thins head. The aroma is sweet and malty with hints of toffee and oak. The taste is much the same with rich carmely malt flavor that blends perfectly with the oak aged character. The high ABV is hidden well with such rich flavor. A great Barleywine. So much flavor. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Amber color with a one finger tan head. Aroma is bread, wood and malt with a hint of alcohol. Taste is sweet malt, slight roast notes and an alcohol finish. This could have been a great beer if the alcohol were not to present. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

22 ounce bottle poured into a Firestone Walker teku. Pours a clear, dark copper with a beige head of foam that starts big, but dissipates pretty quickly. As the beer warms up, notes of toasted nuts, toffee, raisins, and creme brle come through. The taste is sweet, a bit leathery, and dry. It has a big, juicy woody profile. The alcohol seems well hidden for the majority of the drink, but as the swallow works its way down the throat, there is a noticeable heat. Thicker mouthfeel that is a touch sticky. Low carbonation. Overall, this is a pretty tasty beer. For 12 percent, it is nicely drinkable. Taking down the whole bottle wont be an issue.

[Courtesy of and thanks to Kraddel][650 ml. bottle][Consumed close to half] Gorgeous packaging. Pours a dark pomegranate copper amber that just screams barleywine. Almost clear beer with only bubbles for a head, beige bubbles. Smells heavily of sherry, good side of oxidation, oily pine nuts and walnuts, thick caramel, lots and lots of sherry with brown sugar sweetness. Taste is slightly metallic upfront followed by sherry, brown sugar and caramel sweet but nowhere near as sweet as quite a few beers of these style tend to be which is how I prefer them honestly & good oxidation reigns supreme here, lots of oily nuts, one again pine nut oil, dried old berries, faint dates, warming and mildly boozy. Not as thick as I had hopped and this feels a bit thinned out. Honestly, I had very high hopes for this one coming down from Abacus and Sucaba and it is not like it is the most common of beer here or anything but this was nowhere near as rich and decadent as I prefer my barleywines. This felt more tame than balanced with a kind of thinness and almost metallic character to it. Not bad but a definite downer for me.
