COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
DDBA is our flagship beer brewed at double strength. It is amazingly similar in many respects to our barrel fermented DBA and possesses everything we love about that beer times two. English caramel malts lend rich toffee character that pairs well with assertive medium toast American oak barrels.

Pours a hazy orange, no head. Smell is apple cider and banana bread. Not hiding the alcohol at all. Not my cup of tea. ---Rated via Beer Buddy Deez nuts

On tap 5 oz. sampler at Lures Bar and Grille. Clear, dark orange red with off-white head and no lacing. Aroma of orange, banana bread, cherry, bourbon and brown sugar. Taste of bourbon, brown sugar, alcohol burn, vanilla, mildly bitter hops and more. Very full body and medium/light carbonation. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

22 oz. bottle from Total Wine in Chesapeake, VA. Murky brown pour with a frothy beige head. Aroma of toffee and citrus that seems like it will be equally assertive in both the malt and hop profile. The flavor does not dissapoint with notable toffee, caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, and whiskey barrell on one end of the spectrum and on the other orange peel, pine, and grapefruit rind. The blend is far better than I anticipated given my ho-hum feelings about DBA but this is an entirely different animal. It’s no wonder Firestone is amongst my top 5 American breweries. Very nicely done.

Nice thick off white foam. Color is a cloudy light burgundy. Aroma is sweet malty caramel. Taste is sweet malt and caramel. Sort of a slight coffee finish. Not very complex. Light carbonation. Nice barley wine. A little sweet and without depth but good. Worth a try if you come across it. More beer please...

Toffee and butterscotch aromas. Toffee, butterscotch, tropical fruit and port flavors. Overall simply fantastic.

Pale cloudy amber pour, thin off white head .... aroma of oak, bourbon, caramel malts, vanilla and toffee .... taste is of oak, vanilla, light bourbon, toasted and caramel malts as well as toffee .... the mouthfeel is bitter and has slight heat to it ... finish is dry bitter, light bourbony and some lingering warming abv ... You can see the relation to the Anniversary ale big time in this brew .... very well done abv hidden pretty well considering its 12%

Draft at Jerry’s. Caramel-amber with fair (but barrel-aged), creamy, beige head / Winey, sweet nose of oak, caramel, citrus, and pine / Full body, sweet and chewy, with excellent hop balance and bitter, slightly hot, finish / Flavors of fresh caramel, orange, cinnamon, pine, oak, and licorice / Should age.

Bottle:   Deep caramel, moderate to thin foamy light beige head, little lacing.   Very nice toffee, roasted marshmallow, vanilla, and oakish aroma.   Lordy, on the tongue its equally as nice.   Not too heavy or thick, the oak shows up a bit more.   Seems very bourbon like to me.   Not the thickest body, but its not cloying either.   Sweet, bourbony, warming, very nice.   It seems like the younger brother to Abacus/Sucaba.   Expensive, but very enjoyable.

UPDATED: JAN 5, 2013 S: Barrels - oak and bourbon exemplifies trough vanilla, coconut and aged wood. Malt - caramel, brown sugar sweetness. Ver little hop bitterness - alcohol warmth in the back ground A: Dark ruby, thin khaki head that dissipates quickly T: Alcohol warmth - bourbon and oak woodiness. Caramel/toffee malt sweetness, spice from British yeast P: Full bodied soft-med carbonation O: Great right of the bat, would not feel much need to age longer. Very mild in comparison to other FW barrel aged beers, but very enjoyable - has an English feel overall.
