COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
DDBA is our flagship beer brewed at double strength. It is amazingly similar in many respects to our barrel fermented DBA and possesses everything we love about that beer times two. English caramel malts lend rich toffee character that pairs well with assertive medium toast American oak barrels.

Got to try this thanks to a beer buddy at work. Aroma is dried fruit and sweet...something and alcohol. Taste is the same, and very sweet, but not cloyingly so. and really easy drinking, but treat it as a sipper. Supposedly it gets better when a bit warmer - 45 degrees or so. Definitely a treat.

Transfer from BA review on 10-21-13- Poured from bottle into a snifter Appearance – The beer pours a deep golden amber color with a one finger of rather fizzy white head. The head fades rather fast leaving a good level of streaky lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma is huge of sweetness with tons of caramel, toffee, and brown sugar aromas. Along with these smells are some more sweet doughy and bready smells as well as a light amount of the oak due to the oak barrel ageing. Rounding it all out was a light boozy smell, overall giving the brew a rather warming smell. Taste – The taste is just as the nose would have suggested, starting out with a hugely sweet flavor of caramel, and toffee. Along with these tastes was a doughy and bready taste. A brown sugar flavor comes to the tongue more toward the middle, with a bit of a oaky flavor coming to the tongue. The sweet flavors fade ever so slightly toward the end of the taste with a little bit of a boozy taste coming to the tongue. While a boozy taste comes to the tongue at the end, it is minimal in comparison to the 12 % abv of the brew, in the end leaving a warming, smooth and sweet bready flavor to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the thicker and creamier side with a carbonation level that is on the lower side. The thick body and low carbonation really help make this a slow sipper and really accentuate all the big sweet flavors of the brew. Overall – A big and sweet brew with a nice warming and smooth feel. A nice slow sipper.

"kinda barleywineish in it’s presentation, but with a pale ale twist. you can still taste the original beer in there, which though not one of my favorites, is pretty cool. nice hop malt balance and big body on this one. finished sweet with some englidh hops. 2012-in the bottle, the barrels and hops both come through more. Gotta up the score!!"

Pours a hazy deep amber almost dark orange color with off-white head. Caramel and barrel mostly on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes with some sweetness.

22 oz bottle of 2013 vintage from my cellar. Looks thin, but it sure doesn?t smell or taste that way. Sugary, malty, boozy, glorious. The barrel aging and massive malt profile imparted a huge array of flavors, including brown sugar, oak, caramel, leather, and cherry. Mouthfeel was syrupy and smooth. No noticeable hop aroma or bitterness until the finish. The hops must be there, otherwise this beer wouldn?t taste quite so balanced. Amazing! I will try to remember to grab a bottle from this year?s batch.

2013 vintage. Poured from 22oz that was tucked away in the cellar. Color is a beautiful scotch/whiskey dark amber color. Aroma is definitely boozy, barrel aged. First sip is surprisingly sweet, smooth and flavorful. Additional tastes bring out the booze, but still remains very balanced. I get mostly a caramel, molasses, malty finish. Masks the 12% well. Drink this one at home kids!

Bottle (22 Oz. $18): poured clearest amber with small head. Smells and taste of bourbon. Some vanilla. Very little bitterness. Not sure why the call it an Extra Bitter. Very nice sipper.

Poured from a 2014 vintage bottle into a Firestone Walker snifter. Aroma is vanilla bourbon booze caramel and some slight banana. Appearance is a clear reddish amber with a one finger light tan head that dissipates to a small ring around the perimeter of the glass. Taste is a vanilla, buttery caramel, bourbon goodness with a very slight bitter finish. Palate is smooth and creamy. This vintage seems a bit more boozy than previous years. Overall a favorite of mine. Last year of this beer so get it while you can. Cheers!
