DDBA is our flagship beer brewed at double strength. It is amazingly similar in many respects to our barrel fermented DBA and possesses everything we love about that beer times two. English caramel malts lend rich toffee character that pairs well with assertive medium toast American oak barrels.

Appearance: Poured an orange brown rust color with almost no head to speak of. Smell: I am picking up on sweet character tied with oak and bourbon in the background. This one is hard for me to describe but unique for sure. I think I get alcohol soaked raisin or figs and some vanilla. Interesting to say the least. Taste: Wow this one is not what I expected. I get sweetness and the trademark Firestone Walker barell program in that vanilla, bourbon and oak stand out in an unbelievable way. There are some dark fruits and some nuttiness present. Mouthfeel: This is a velvety smooth beer for the abv. No carbonation and I actually wish there was some more present to cut some of the sweetness. The alcohol does have a warming and somewhat burn on the gums. Overall: This is one hell of a beer but one that I believe should be shared. I really enjoyed this beer and it surprised me at how good it is.

Amber color with off-white head. Sweet malty, nutty aroma. Lightly boozy rich malt character, sweet but not too much. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bomber through a trade with beercation. Firestone Double DBA 12% 2014 A lovely clear Amber color with a wispy beige head. A fantastic malty sweet aroma, a bit of booze and spice. Raspy carbonation on a medium body. The taste is sweet, caramel, nutty, biscuit, malty with some berry notes. As it warms up you get sweet caramel whiskey notes. Really good stuff.

Bottle at home, thanks to a trade with Steve. Vanilla, oak, alcoholic, caramel, english style caramel, bourbon, bitterness to cap it all off. Nice, but I've come to expect more when drinking Firestone Walker.

Poured from bottle for the Ratebeer Camp extravaganza. Pours rich copper with a nice off white head. Aromas of bread malt and caramel. Taste is caramel bread toffee and dark fruit with a nice hint of bourbon. I like this beer.

Looks like an orange mated with a cherry (a burnt orange color). Smells like a barleywine. Tastes like a malty barrel aged ale. Not a bad beer but I wouldn’t seek it out.

2014 Vintage. Surprised it took me so long to tick this one! Poured like a barleywine. Hazy, burnt orange, 2 finger off white head. Aroma is sweet with caramel, persimmon, apples and raisins. barrel character is light. taste is good. Very thin mouthfeel and carbonation. Lots of sweet, burnt oak, vanilla, toasted nuts. like a baby barley wine and the 12% ABV is very well hidden.

Strong flavor, but not a lot of alcohol content present. Muddy water appearance. Dessert spices in the flavor, which reminds me of Christmas. Sampled at Tap & Growler.
