4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle. Pours a nice mahogany red color with a off white head. Aroma is really nice, lots of oak, bourbon and vanilla, I also get wine gums, caramel, toffee, coconut and dark fruits. The flavor follows the nose, lots of complex barrel character, I get oak, bourbon, vanilla, coconut and bourbon soaked dark fruits, along with regular dark fruit flavors, lights sugar/molasses notes, caramel, toffee and wine gums. The body is medium with a silky texture. Overall a really nice brew, Firestone Walker RULES!!!

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle at home, thanks to a trade with Steve. Vanilla, oak, alcoholic, caramel, english style caramel, bourbon, bitterness to cap it all off. Nice, but I've come to expect more when drinking Firestone Walker.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
Looks like an orange mated with a cherry (a burnt orange color). Smells like a barleywine. Tastes like a malty barrel aged ale. Not a bad beer but I wouldn’t seek it out.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
2014 Vintage. Surprised it took me so long to tick this one! Poured like a barleywine. Hazy, burnt orange, 2 finger off white head. Aroma is sweet with caramel, persimmon, apples and raisins. barrel character is light. taste is good. Very thin mouthfeel and carbonation. Lots of sweet, burnt oak, vanilla, toasted nuts. like a baby barley wine and the 12% ABV is very well hidden.

2.3 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Strong flavor, but not a lot of alcohol content present. Muddy water appearance. Dessert spices in the flavor, which reminds me of Christmas. Sampled at Tap & Growler.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
My Bottom Line:
Toasted malts with a few caramelized sugars benefit from gentle fruitiness in this malt-driven strong ale.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A ring of foam covers the cloudy red.
-Alcohol is well hidden for this type of powerful brew.
-You could see this as a nice Barley Wine without too much caramelization.
-The malt finish is lovely.
-While this is quite good, I can see why it is mostly being used in blends. It may not have the complexity to completely satisfy the strong ale lover on its own...
On tap at O’Brien’s.

4.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Pours rich copper with a small beige ring. Smells lightly fruity, toffee, hints of caramel. Taste is toffee, treacle, hints of caramel. Full-bodied with a smooth texture and soft mouth-carbonation, Firestone Walker Double DBA finishes with a smooth sweetness with a touch of alcohol heat.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Intense and vivid, with sweet caramel and toffee malt on the palate and subtle black fruits underneath. Charred oak and spice corral the sweetness a bit, but this is really and truly a monstrous beer. It is kind of like a prostitute. The sweetness and lingering spice keeps you coming back for more, yet the dry, morally ambiguous finish has you asking yourself what you are doing.
