COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Double Jack IPA is our first ever Imperial IPA. It features a big malty middle to cloak the high alcohol and mouth puckering hop bitterness. Huge tangerine, grapefruit and juicy fruit aroma blossom over the herbal blue basil and malt earthiness of this aggressive beer. Best enjoyed in moderation.

Tasted on 3/14/11 from a 650mL bomber bottle purchased at Lush West Town. Pours burnt orange with an average off-white head that slowly recedes to uneven lace. The nose is full of piney resin hops, tons of lemon peel, with caramel malt and just a hint of maple. The flavor has some sweet orange and caramel up front, moving to pine resin bitterness, a hint of soap, and chewable vitamins. The body is medium and somewhat sticky with average carbonation and a long bitter orange peel and resin finish.

Bottle from brewdog online. Clear golden and thick white head. Aroma is beautiful, floral and biscuity malt on the nose with resin and citrus in the mouth. Taste is very nicely blanched, sweet and bitter, malty and crisp. Just short of prickly with an oily body. Excellent.

Aroma: pine, resin, caramel and bread malts, some citrus. Appearance: clear gold, small, creamy, white head. Taste: light sweet. Palate: fruitiness continues though does not intensify, malts again, some grass, floral notes. Overall: very interesting IIPA, almost like an imperial version of an English-style IPA. Bottle from Independent Spirit, Bath.

Poured from a bottle, its color is a stunning amber. A really beautiful beer with a moderate white head. The aroma is citrus, pine, and a little more floral than other IPAs. I was expecting more pine, and that disappointed when it wasn’t met. But in fairness, it’s not really a detriment to this beer at all. Lightly bitter, and moderately sticky, it leaves light lacing on the glass. Definitely a first-rate beer, but it left me wanting just a little bit more on most measures. Again, I don’t mean this as a negative. Rather, it was quite good, but I felt it was just missing being great.

Bottle, 8 months old. Clear copper in colour with fluffy white head. Aroma mainly malty sweet, low aroma notes (mind the age): pine, resin and some citrus. In taste medium sweet, resiny and sweetness is countered rapidly by big bitterness, which is short, heavy and very smooth. Medium body, soft carbonarion. Great beer, I’d love to try it fresh.

Bright golden, clear with drops of visible carbonation and a decent contrasting white cap. Nose is brisk minty over piney, grapefruit, narrow bright malt and candied clementine. Initial taste is flickers of pine and syruppy pineapple with a jump start of bitterness. Juiciness has a bit of stage fright and this dry, minerally richness takes the opportunity. Carbonation is firm, mouthfeel stern but crisp enough. Finishes oddly dewy, gooseberry then a bit more greasy mint grapefruit it on the linger.

Big, aggressive IPA. Pours clear amber with a white lacing head. Strong pineapple, grapefruit on the nose, flavour follows suit. Aggressive bitterness, but balanced really well with a good malty backbone. Easy drinking, with a nice dry herbal bitter finish. Top quality stuff.

Bottle pours copper with off white head. Orange, pine, resin, earth, herbs. High bitterness, light sweetness. Full, crisp body. Trailing bitterness.

Pours medium amber from a bomber. Slightly malty aroma. Starts and middle is malty as advertised and drinks less boozy than the 9.5 would suggest. Citrus hoppy finish, solid beer. Usually don’t care for doubles as much.
