3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
22oz bottle served in a snifter
Bottled on 1/4/13
A - Pours a clear brassy amber with a tight knit white head that retains well through the entirety of the glass. Pretty drops of lacing.
S - Sticky pine fills the nostrils, mandarin oranges, red grapefruit, dried stone fruit, pineapple, alcohol, has a bit of woody potpourri aroma as it warms up.
T - Sweet tropical and citrus fruit with mix of smooth green pine bitterness, mango and dried papaya stand out alot, candied lemon peels, the steely caramel malt has a cotton candy-like sweetness and rounds out very well. Finishes clean and semi dry with a green piney bitterness. The aftertaste consists of sweet citrus and thin caramel.
M - Very smooth feel, medium chewy body, micro carbonation, very nice mouthfeel.
A well crafted beer indeed. The aroma and feel are the beers strong points. A solid dose of hop flavor with just the right amount of bitterness. Citrus overtakes the pine as it warms, the malt is steely and sweet but has a lightness to it as well as a high quality character. I love every beer I’ve had from this brewery so far.

Pours a golden amber, with a bubbly tan head. Aroma is citrusy, tangeriney hops predominant. Taste is extremely hoppy, lots of cool citrus notes - mild tropical, mild pine, mild orange zest. Extraordinarily balanced - the sweet, earthy, herbal notes and sweet caramel malt met with doses of bitterness, and they all linger into the finish. Really awesome double IPA worthy of most of the hype.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle from Brussels at home. Pours a clear orange with an off-white head and lacings. Sweet and bitter with lots of hops aromas. Spruce and some floral notes. Also malty notes of pale malts with hints of caramel and alcohol. Medium to full bodied. Medium carbonation. Long and quite bitter finish. I’d like to taste a fresh bottle too.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
This is a jem of a beer if you like the beers that are heavy and intricate. It is like wine, and has many taste phases. Certainly not for the casual beer drinker.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle from World Beer Market (Sake no Taniguchi). Rich piney hop aroma, some stinging citrus, alcohol fumes, and tropical fruit. Clear amber/orange color, with a small fluffy white head. Tropical fruit sweetness, thick caramel and bread, with the fruitiness developing from mid palate onwards. The alcohol is a bit pronounced. Heavy and a bit creamy at first, and then slightly rouch on the tongue. Strong and intriquing character, Goes up to the edge of cloying, but does not cross over. Love this one!

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Strong aromas of citrusy / woody hops and heavy caramel malts. Dark orange pour with lots of thick, white, persistent foam. Medium body and medium to light fizz. Slightly oily on the tongue. The flavor is equally strong with the hops perhaps slightly stronger than the malt. The citrus is much stronger on the tongue. The combination creates a very long duration at the end.
