3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
22oz bottle from the 300 East liquor store in SLC - Pours a crystal clear yellow color with a medium sized pure white head that sticks around forever. Aroma is full of green resiny hops, with notes of grapefruit and touches of light caramel and faintly toasted malts. Flavor is fairly hoppy with grapefruit notes, touches of caramel and lightly chewy malts. Finish is balanced but with a slight residual sweetness. This is basically a strong version of union jack, almost identical in fact. Its almost like you took a bottle of union jack and poured in everclear. It’s very good, much like union jack. However, I sort of think a double IPA should be different than a regular IPA, not just an identical but stronger version of an IPA. Nevertheless this is still very good.

If there is a formula for a top end imperial IPA, this follows it. Clear orange/amber, with a small white head and lacing - check. Medium to full body, not too much carb, bit oily - check. Aroma of orange marmalade, peach and grapefruit - check. Flavour moves you from the fruit, through robust malt to a big bitter hit - check. If this sounds a bit too formulaic, well it’s a good formula, and there is a prominent taste of herbs which sets it somewhat apart. Good stuff.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Poured into a shaker showing well filtered honey brown.
The nose shows light limes and not much else.
The palate is moderately carbonated and medium bodied. Moderately intense flavors of lime and light malt with a strong alcohol spiciness throughout. Very strong bitterness on the finish.

Mal wieder ein IIPA das kurz vor der Perfektion steht. A VERY BIG ONE !!!! Wahrlich aggressive Frucht/Harz/Malz/Hopfenaromenattacken beschäftigen alle beteiligten Sinne. Trotzdem unfassbar rund. ALLMÄCHTIG !!!!! 0,6l/12 Euro vom Braufactumstand, beim Kieler Craft Beer Day 2016. Verköstigt dann mit Baby, Ratty & Chrille im Taxi und vor dem Medusa in Gaarden.
