COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Double Jack IPA is our first ever Imperial IPA. It features a big malty middle to cloak the high alcohol and mouth puckering hop bitterness. Huge tangerine, grapefruit and juicy fruit aroma blossom over the herbal blue basil and malt earthiness of this aggressive beer. Best enjoyed in moderation.

Transfer from BA review on 4-7-13- Poured from bottle into a pint glass Appearance – The beer pours a beautiful crystal clear orange amber color with tons of big carbonation bubbles initially seen streaming up through the body of the brew getting enveloped in the one finger white head. The large carbonation bubbles quickly fade from view with all the while the white head fading to leave a decent level of lace on the sides of the glass. Smell - The smell is big of a sweeter grapefruit hop aroma. A ruby red grapefruit and tangerine aroma combine producing a hoppy and sweeter citrus smell overall. These are not the only aromas however and are joined by some lighter pine and herbal hop smells as well as a nice tropical fruit smell of pineapple and papaya. Taste – The taste begins very big of malt and sweeter fruit flavors as well as a nice grapefruit hop taste. The fruit flavors are mainly of a tangerine and pineapple flavor initially, but as the taste advances some flavors of a slightly sour lemon come to the tongue mellowing out the fruit sweetness more toward the end of the taste. While the sweeter fruit lightens, the taste still remains relatively sweet as some caramel flavors come to the tongue in the middle of the flavor profile. Toward the end of the taste the grapefruit picks up in intensity and is joined by some pine hop flavors as well, with the combination of flavors leaving a nice moderately resinous and grapefruit bitter but still somewhat fruity and sweet flavor to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is thick and smooth with a carbonation level that is on the slightly lower side. The thick and chewy body as well as lower carbonation are fantastic for the combination of sweet citrus fruit as well as citrus hop flavors, bringing them to the forefront on the tongue. Overall – A very enjoyable and smooth tasting double IPA that hides the 9.5 % abv very well. It has a nice blend of citrus hop and sweet fruit flavors but also has enough balance via the pine, caramel and malt flavors to produce very easy drinking and robust tasting IPA.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Beer & Beyond, Tel Aviv. Nice clear golden-yellow with medium off-white head. Hoppy aroma, onion, grassy, malty. Heavy hoppy bitterness flavor, onion, grassy, malty, very alcoholic, notes of honey. Lively carbonation. Full body. Sticky bitter aftertaste.

12 oz bottle pours clear, bright orange with a small head. Powerful hop aroma of orange and citrus. Sweet hoppy taste. Oranges, pineapple, grapefruit, grass and pine. Medium to low carbonation with a semi sticky mouth feel. Aggressive? Yes, but very well balanced and pretty smooth for the abv. Great IIPA!

Poured with s small white head and a hazy light orange body. Pine, earthy aroma. Kind of like walking through the woods. Sweet caramel taste, with a big punch of bitter hops. Slightly sour on the side of the tongue. It’s good, but I like regular Union Jack IPA more.

Pours a hazy orange, with a small white head. Lots of citrus, pine and honey on the nose, some hops. Taste is fairly balanced between hoppiness and maltiness. Very good, could have used some more bitterness though.

Look: pours a clear orange color. Bright white head. Smell: citrus and tropical fruit. Tangerine, grapefruit. Mango. Sweet sugar. Taste: grapefruit. Ginger ale. Lemon. Sweet Oranges. Slight bitterness but not over whelming. Very little booze. Feel: dry. Leaves a film on the mouth. Makes you want to go back for another drink each time. Overall: great beer. Love the aroma. Great mouth feel. Love the taste. Not an over whelming IIPA. Love it all around. First drank: home 9/3/14

This is actually the double jack proprietors reserve, with the green label. Really good double with the right amount of floral and bitterness. Excellent ??

Bottle while visiting Seattle. Pours gold with a white head. Sweet caramel aroma with over ripe fruit. Medium body, medium carbonation. Booze is very well integrated, barely there. There’s orange, caramel, toast, pine, wood and they are all where they should be. Not sticky sweet, nice and dry and bitter at the finish. A juicy, tasty drop.

Served on-tap at TJ’s into a snifter.

A - Pours amber orange with a small one finger tall white head leaving little to no lacing down the glass.

S - Smells of sweet caramel malt, HUGE citric fruit punch; most notably grapefruit and mango; Piney hops and a tiny bit of biscuit hiding in the shadows. The booze comes thru a bit once it warms but it is hidden well. This is nice and fresh with a big citric hop aroma that could last for days. Very nice nose.

T - Plenty of grassy hops up front quickly giving way to a mix of citric fruit and sweet caramel malt. The strong citric presence is not as strong here but it is still prominent. The finish is a mix of caramel sweetness and lingering citric hop bitterness. This was enjoyable but a bit of a letdown after that nose.

M - Medium body and flavor with moderate carbonation. Sticky sweet feel with tons of pungent, grassy, hops lingering on the pallet long after consumption.

O - I really enjoyed this one. The taste was a bit of a letdown but the overall beer was very solid. It isn’t Pliny but that is no problem. Thanks again to Matt for putting on another great event!
